Never mind I had to add a quart of fluid when I changed my radiator and it has come back. Do you think I should try the Lubeguard platinum.currently I have the instant shudder fix not a bad shudder just got it for 1/2 second.

What transmission fluid are you using? What procedure are you using to top off fluid?

I use valvoline max life and I use the check mode method. it has only done it once recently so I will continue to see what it does this week.

Great information guys. I have a 2005 Tacoma TRD Sport with almost 300,000 miles. It is not my daily driver anymore so it doesn't get alot of mileage. I replaced it with a 2016 4x4 TRD. My 2005 had developed a sever shudder in high gear that was so bad that I was ready to see parts of the transmission laying on the road as I coasted to a stop. It was non-existant in any of the lower gears, but the overdrive was brutal. I was ready to have someone pull the transmission and go through it until a friend said I should try the Lubeguard Instant Shudder Fix. I'm not one for instant fix products because most cause more harm than good. I had always had the transmission flushed, filter changed and refilled every 100,000 miles as a preventative maintenance even though most manufacterers say the transmission fluid is a lifetime product. Well, lifetime for them is usually 100K miles and we know our Tacomas last much longer than that. I have been waiting for her to turn over to 300K miles before I get the transmission flushed, filter changed and refilled again.

So, the old girl was throwing up some missfire codes that needed addressing, so I said what the heck, I will just try the Shudder Fix for $10, what could it hurt. So I added the Shudder Fix while changing out the spark plugs to address the missfire codes and then took her out for a drive. No shudder and she ran smoother that I can remember. Now I'm considering giving her a new windshield just because she runs so well. If the shudder comes back I may take her in for a flush, filter and fluid refill early. I just don't like to hear the Toyota place tell me how bad the transmission fuild looked and how I need to get rid of her before it fails. They have told me that at 100K and 200K miles. Thanks for all of the good information on this site. I would have looked here earlier but I wasn't sure what to call the "shudder" problem. Now I do.

Hopefully your Tacoma converter shudder doesn’t come back. Mine has been gone since I used Lubeguard platinum .I have been using gear 4 when I traffic so the converter doesn’t lock up as much.

Yeah when mines was acting weird like that after buying it used with 180k miles. I drained and filled the transmission oil and added lubegard platinum. Then I replaced the carrier bearing with a spicer one and it's been good since..
