Question about putting a turbocharger on my 3.4L v6 automatic prerunner

    Would replacing my stock plenums with a turbocharger help my truck make it up hills easier???

    No. Because you’re in CA and highly doubt it’s worth the headache, install, and tuning to smog biannually. Install a CARB legal charger and move on to the next legal project.

    Are you talking about a true turbo setup or just a different type of intake plenum? Are you familiar with the amount of parts and modification ($$$) required for a turbo?

    I am really just looking for more power to climb kills and acceleration from dead stops, i.e. stop lights, signs

    Do you have big tires? Is the truck stock?

    Bigger tires will sap the engine power on these trucks pretty much no matter what you do.

    Yes. Am running Yokohama geolanders. Everything is stock however.

    Yes the tires are bigger? What size?

    There really isnt any quick and easy solutions to gain power on your little 3.4
    Forced induction is expensive and can be a tough learning curve if you aren't experienced in all the nuances that come with it

    You have a 2wd so regearing the axle might be worth looking into. It wont create power but it'll give the drivetrain more leverage against the heavier tires

    Google east coast gear supply and shop what they have for 3rd members
