I have this weird rattling under my passenger in a 2002 prerunner, so I went under and found this part, but I dont really have an idea of how it attaches back on. Originally I thought the heat shielding on the cat, because it would start getting loud when I increased the RPMS (with the engine in a driving gear) Can I get some advice on where I should be attaching this back on?

    The clamp in question:

    The sound:

Also: what is this (other) part and how do I replace it, it was along the exhaust line

The bolt on the clamp might have backed off??? Either way, it looks like there's a mark on the exhaust pipe it should line up with. Not too familiar with the exhaust on these trucks, but two wrenches to tighten down the bolt will do the trick. Looks like an annoying reach.

Cut the old one off and spray some WD40 on the metal bits and it should slide right on.

no need to go through the drama in attempting to cut anything, will slide off after spraying it with lube of some sort,
Prybar, channel locks, whatever it takes....
Theyre not on there very tight if you spray them...

What's odd is it looks like the bolt on the clamp in question is threaded in all the way, but the clamp is nowhere near tight on the exhaust pipe:

Is there supposed to be something inside that clamp that takes up the slack?

From what I could tell it can slide up to an upper section that seems like two metals stack (bottom right of this pic), but there it really a clear indication of if that clam is supposed to have some direction that it is installed..

Can you loosen that bolt then slide the clamp upward over that stacked section?

yea, just trying to figure out what direction this straiightens out, its kinda weird that a fully tightened clamp fell off and I'm curious if there's anything that was supposed to be there that isnt

I crawled under my 2003 Prerunner to see if I could find that clamp for comparison, but could not locate it...
