I'm an old, retired guy with a recently purchased 2021 SR5 4wd, 6cyl access cab Tacoma with 21K miles, I live in Minnesota.

I have a very tight spot to park in, at idle creeping into my spot I get an unpredictable Un commanded idle increase of about 5 to 7 rpm making parking a challenge.

Truck operates normal, no fault lights and operates normal while driving.
The rise in RPM is proceeded by a solenoid click that I'm guessing is the Idle Air Control Valve. The command to that solenoid I'm guessing comes from the Engine Control Unit which maybe senses a low idle. I don't think I can raise the idle with an adjustment.
Anyone have ideas of what the problem could be or how to trouble shoot.
The dealership told me without a fault light their must not be a problem. ha ha

Turn your air off or windshield defogger vents off.

Also turning your steering wheel will do the same thing.

Welcome to TW and to owning a very smart truck...
It is normal, and no mechanical adjustments for the idle, it also does not have an idle control valve as it is what is called a drive by wire, it has an electronic throttle actuated controlled throttle body...

You would never feel a 5-7 rpm idle chance, did you mean a 500 - 700rpm surge?? If I understand your concern correctly, what is happening is normal for these trucks, what you are feeling is either the A/C cycling causing the ECM to command a higher idle (as mentioned the A/C runs when in defrost mode) and or the strain on the engine when turning the steering wheel also causing the ECM to command an idle increase...

You could also have a dirty throttle body and the ECM is trying to compensate for it... You can look at live data to see the idle %...

Lots of opinions here so I’m throwing mine in I think what you are feeling is the well known Tacoma lurch and I think a TSB was issued for this problem although it might not have been for the 2021 model but it’s worth contacting your local dealer about it. IMO
