Hey guys I think I made up my mind on just leveling out my truck with a 2” RC leveling kit instead of spending so much on a lift since I’m doing it just for looks no off roading..

can I just install the leveling kit by itself without having to do anything else or do I need after market control arms etc??? I know I might have to align it but am I missing something…

What are the pros and cons of a leveling kit over a lift ?

Can you share your experience and set up if you have used a leveling kit before ?

    thanks

You should be fine without a UCA swap. As far as doing more depends on you (nothing required, you already know you need an alignment). I have a severe case of "while I in there".

Leveling kit is sales people talk for a specific type of a lift.

Do you regularly tow/haul? It is my understanding that rake helps in those cases so that you aren't doing a carolina squat and pointing your front end up toward the sky while pulling weight.

im just messing with you. I believe they call it “bro lean”, when you are nose high. Just put spacers in the front. If it’s too much, put some in the rear too. It’s a non functional lift for mostly looks. I’ve never done it but have heard reports of decreased ride quality.

What is the condition of your current suspension? I took mine to 145k and it was time to replace, therefore I just went full suspension lift. If yours is worn, you may consider saving for a new suspension, and achieve the 2” in the front that way.

And also, I may be wrong, but I think 2” would put you ~1” higher in the front than the rear. Again depending on the shape of your current suspension, your rear leafs may be sagged, and you may sit higher than expected up front

my truck has 78k miles currently so I don’t really think the suspension is too worn also I wouldn’t even know how to tell to be honest… but I definitely wanna sit higher in the front should I go for the “2.5 or 2” spacer to achieve this ?

I believe most leveling kits are a 2/1 meaning 2” up front and 1” rear to achieve a leveled stance. I would assume that 2” in the front would make you sit higher in the front.

The turd gen, at least, has a 1" factory rake.
Adding 2.5" will leave you 1.5" higher in the front.
Unless o.p adds an aal or a 1.5" rear block.

I have some 2.5" front blocks and 1.5" rear blocks that I'm not using anymore.

I've got 2.5 spacers front with a 2inch add a leaf rear and I've never had an issue, slightly larger tires.

Thinking about purchasing this 2.5 inch spacer kit:

I have a 2nd gen so I’m guessing 2.5 spacers might be enough for me to sit just a bit higher in the front.. would you guys recommend me to get after market control arms as well

Bilstein 6112 front / 5100 rear (extended) shocks, Headstrong AAL, Firestone airbags, 4.88 gears, OME Carrier bearing drop kit, Aluminum 1/4" skids (engine to transfer). Custom sliders (1.75" HREW tube w/ 3/16" base plates). Custom front bumper and high clearance rear bumper (1/4" steel plate, 1.75" tube.) Apex 5500 winch w/synthetic line (36lbs) and required accessories for an underpowered winch (snatch blocks and extra line.) Tekonsha P3 brake controller, remote start, any-time-backup camera w/ front facing camera, Leer 100R shell (w/e-track single slot tie-down mounts for removable Yakima EasyTop.) Cat shields by CaliRaised. Husky liners, window tint, heated seat (passenger only.) Relentless bed rail brackets with QuickFists (shovel/axe/fire extinguisher.) Hondo Garage Un-holey vent mount. Anytime rear with front facing camera. Billet front seat risers. Viair 88p. 265/75r16 Goodyear Ultra-terrain tires.
Spacers sound fine for your expectations. Like others have said.. you're going to have a Carolina Squat (Bro Lean) if you merely add 2" to the front.

If you're not off-roading are hauling heavy items then the inexpensive spacer/block kit for front and rear posted above is probably a decent fit.

So just by adding the “2 RC SPACER I’ll be more raised in the front than the rear ?
