Haven't seen much talk lately about anyone installing Bilstein 5125s on the rear with a lift.
Wheeler's site says they measure 15.01" collapsed and 24.38" extended. That's about 1.5" longer extended than stock and about 1 inch longer compressed. Would need to extend/replace bump stops and extend the brake lines (or maybe use a small spacer at the brake lines bracket on the axle).

I know I've read threads where people installed these, and I think there were issues with the lower shock eyelet fitting into the factory lower bracket or something. Shock lower eyelet too wide maybe?

    Anyone done this lately?

Didn’t have to do anything special with my 5160’s. Just added an Icon AAL

I am aware - I can read. Just giving you the 5160. Do with it what you want. Seems like a lot of work to put 5125’s in.

I have them on mine. The rubber bushing was too big for lower mount so I trimmed it to fit. Took like 2 minutes.

How have they worked out for ya? Just used a razor knife to trim each side of the bushing or what?

Thinking if I lift the rear 1.5 inches with an AAL it would be nice to regain that down travel with longer shocks. The trick is I don't know if the AAL will allow the leaf packs to flex down more than stock. The stock leafs are what limits the droop (not the stock shock length).

    Lower shock bolt removed:

Yeah, just used a knife. I’ve had them on for a year, no issues, ride great. Another option would be the extended version of the 5100.

I’ve got Bilstein 5125 in the rear with OME EL111R leaf pack. Curious if anyone out there has similar set up and experimented with anything other than the stock bump stops.

I just installed 5125's on the rear with Archive Garage MD springs and their u-bolt flip kit that came with their standard bump stops. Very happy with the way it turned out.2.jpg

I've got 5125s with stock leafs and the OEM 1in lift blocks. Perfect length for that. If your leaf springs are thinner than this setup you may need extended bump stops to avoid damaging the shocks. I have archives built flip kit with their bump stops.

This is the response I received from Bilstein.

5100s with a 1in block results in an inch less suspension travel than stock on a truck that doesn't have a whole lot to begin with. 5125s have an inch and a half more travel than those 5100s and ride a whole lot better than the stock OR shocks. Bilstein doesn't publish valving specs for the 5100s so hard to directly compare but I have a feeling the 5125s are really close. Personally there is no way I would run the 5100s in the rear and some random person at Bilstein reading from their catalog doesn't change my mind on that.

If someone is set on direct fit shocks with a 1in block then the TRD lift kit rear shocks are a much better choice than the 5100s. They are the proper length and reasonably priced. They are not built quite as beefy as the 5125s though and are can down instead of can up like the 5125s.
