Thanks , that’s putting it “ like it is “ . It’s a different animal than I am used to . It’s definitely a great handling truck. In my opinion . I’ve had 1960 ‘s 70’ s 80’s and 90’s 2w and 4 w trucks mostly chevy’s and 5 jeeps cj’s . Cherokee’s and my favorite 4w was a 96 jimmy GMC . Bullet proof V6 vortec . But , I regress . I am enjoying the “ nuances “ of this vehicle . At this particular time in my life . I’m all loaded up with cancer and just enjoying the experience of having nothing left to loose . Driving “ mostly off road . But , this is my daily driver . Don’t write me back about “ cancer “I don’t want to hear it . Just drive and scare yourself doing it .

Better shocks, maybe? What year model (I assume a 1st Gen, since you mentioned BTTF) and does it have a lift kit on it? You don't need it to corner like an STI, it's a truck, not a rally car.

I've done some corner carving as well, mostly mountain roads and a few track days. Miatas sure are fun, and you can embarrass Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers all day long on a crooked road.

I’m an old school born in 57 ! I’m not looking for advice from a Mazda owner . No offense , very fun to drive ! But , fwith not much skill on the drivers part .Just knowing how to handle a nimble quick accelerating road hugger . But , really ? I’ve had Mopar 400 383 . I’m not into Mazda . I love Subaru’s though. My kid drives a 50 th anniversary model WRX manual , turbo model .A whole different style of driving . Fun , but not a 270 hp automatic light in the ass pick up !

I'm even older than you, born in '54. The only Mazda I've owned is the Miata and I sold it back in 2017. I've driven with guys who had WRX's and yeah, they're quick, all wheel drive is a real asset for good cornering when the car is set up properly. I'm into old American Heavy Metal, love the muscle cars of the 60's and 70's, but I also like a small car that handles really well and a Miata is hard to beat when set up correctly. Big MOPAR's and Chevelles and Mustangs were great in a straight line but not so much in a corner.

Don't expect a 1st gen Tacoma to handle anything like a sports car unless you do some serious mods to it. I've also driven with a guy who had a 2nd gen Tacoma, it was an extra cab Prerunner that he lowered and had some serious sway bars on and a good coilover suspension. 6-speed and 4-liter V6, it was pretty hard to keep up with. My current ride is a 2011 Tacoma DCSB 4x4, auto and 4L V6. Terrible oversteer off the gas and in a corner, and don't get on the brakes hard in that shape if the road is wet.

Yeah , I regret posting that . I wanted it to handle better . I’ve had 70s 80s and 90s pick ups blazers 4w and 2 w S 10 s Ford Courier . So , my second generation 2010 4.0 is far better than any of those trucks . I’ve been driving it “ daily driver “ for a little over a year now . Still getting used to it off road . But , I’m happy with it .

I appreciate you and others for putting it nicely ! It’s a “ truck ! not a awd car ! Yes , you’re right . I’m new here and was just curious . I am really grateful to have found this Truck . Like I said in my first post . I’ve wanted a Tacoma 4WD truck . Since 1985 Back to the future . Now all these years and vehicles later . I finally have a Black Toyota V6 4.0 4WD . And live on an orv trail in the middle of the forest . I’m really happy to have my “ Taco Taco “
