I've had my truck about 2 months now ('22 DCLB 4x4 SR5) and considering mods to get more get up and go from it. I've tried to find out more about the OTT tunes since it seems its the overwhelming recommendation for a tune, and improving the shifting characteristics of the automatic transmission. What does the OTT tune actually do? Does it require premium gas?

My truck came with the Gold Certified Pre Owned warranty through Toyota, so I have powertrain coverage out 7 years. Is the OTT tune something that can be removed before a service appointment (like a handheld tuner that plugs into the OBD port)? I would not want to lose that warranty, so if the tune can be spotted, I may just live with the truck's power 'as is'.

From what I've read, yes, the tune can be detected (if the dealership looks at your ECM CVN ?).

Whether or not a tune will void warranty is a grey area...If something engine/transmission-related malfunctions or fails and Toyota starts to investigate, any evidence of an aftermarket tune may give them reason to deny the warranty repair. I assume that's a rare scenario, but it could happen.

There are lots of threads on this forum regarding tunes. Time to do some reading...

I have been tuned since 2018, and I have not once had trouble with my dealership regarding it. Most dealerships won't detect the tune, the ones that can would need another exact model stock truck to compare ECU calibration hash to see it was tampered with.
