In the short term the problem is that we simply don't have the manufacturing capacity or skilled workforce to make many of the things we currently source from overseas. Long term, yeah maybe we will bring back more manufacturing jobs, but it'll come with a heavy inflationary cost.

This is a good watch on making a grill brush in the USA, his struggles, and the price tag.

I’m almost 100% certain this is a scam. Tariffs are paid by the selling company not the customer. Please investigate this further before paying. They probably made an email address similar to DHL.

You are misinformed on that. The importer pays the tax, which is typically a company who sells those good onto consumers. However, in this case the importer is an individual so the import levy falls to that individual.

You are correct if he is considered the importer. DHL is acting as the broker to pay the fee.
Sorry for my previous post. Just see so many scammers trying to get our hard earned money.

I think there are DHL scams and it’s why I asked on here too. I’m sure y’all use partsouq too so maybe someone has used it recently and also got hit or didn’t get hit. Seems the tariffs got pushed through recently enough that not many people have had a chance to experience yet.

I get one of those tollbooth scam text messages at least once a week. They're so glaringly obvious tho I can't imagine many internet savvy people are falling for them. The email address always begins with scdmv and ends in something absolutely absurd.

Those and I’ve been getting the scdmv texts about parking tickets too. It’s pretty sad.

DHL customs payment was legit apparently. Just a heads up. Close to 25% of purchase costs.

Any of you guys interested in a 3rd gen short bed camper shell? I've got a Leer 100R sprayed with raptor liner, Yakima roof rails, and a Victory 4x4 roof rack I'm thinking of selling. I custom made window screen replacements out of expanded sheet metal since my dogs destroyed the bug screens it came with. Real simple topper, no windoors or fold down front glass, just sliders.

Just popped it off the truck yesterday for the first time in years and really like the way the truck looks with it off and the increased visibility.

edit: here's a couple pictures for reference:

You were too quick!! I'm thinking I can sell the topper and spend the proceeds on making a rear seat replacement platform and let the dogs ride in the cab with me.

If anybody is interested in this (or someone you know is) I'm thinking $1500 is a fair deal for the setup.
