Well my current boss took the news pretty damn well. I know i was probably over hyping myself up. But he understands i need the benefits. He said if he was able to compete he would try to keep me here. Told him I will finish the month off working for him. And try to train the 2 guys up on working on the equipment. I also said if he needs me to come in on a weekend to fix machines I would.

Have had their 65" for about 5 years now. Works great, was recommended by a neighbor who installs them in local bars for his business.

Good deal. No bridges burned and still a chance at some side money.

When I left my last job for this one 12 years ago I actually told my boss who should replace me in my position and told that person why they should take that job posting when it came up. I worked out a deal where once my replacement was "trained" by the guy on day work and I was comfortable enough here at the new job, that when they moved my replacement to his 2nd shift position I would come back there when I got off work at my new job and spend some time helping get him up to speed faster. A deal was made with the union to allow me to come back as a "consultant" for a certain number of hours and the company paid me a premium as a consultant for up to 40 total hours. I spread that out over about 6-8 weeks going back to my old employer and helping my replacement learn a lot of the little tricks of the machine and how to tune it in to perform that the day shift operator either didn't know or was unwilling to share. My replacement did me proud and in just over 6 months at his new position was outperforming the guy on day shift.

In Centre county we just shoot them or if they somehow get near the house my dog eats them I try and not let her do that because she gets bad gas from them and then smells up the house for a few days

Excellent. I guess he doesn't have much choice but it's good that you still keep the connection. I recall a former manager of mine being rather nonchalant about me changing back to part time days and acting like she'd be fine (reality is I was the only full timer otherwise) and then acting like she was happy to see me leave when I gave full notice a few weeks later, not ideal to hear after all my sacrifices.

Way to be, it's sad that many people think sharing knowledge is a negative.

The biggest problem was the operator on day shift just refused to ever show his machine tender anything about how to run the machine. This lead to situations where when that operator called off the machine sat. I preferred to work as a team with my tender. Night work just had a different attitude and worked together better than day shift. The stories I could tell.....

I've heard decent things about TCL, but I still have a 15+ year old Sony 48inch that I paid just over 1000 for new and it's still going strong, my parents had a 47inch LG, than a 47inch Visio, and now a 50 inch Samsung, all the others had something die on them in less than 4 years, when my Sony dies I'm getting another Sony

We do have a Sony 55, it's about 10 yrs old and does everything we want it to do. But I just saw this 85 for cheap. Best buy has it cheaper @$599.

I mean, 599 for an 85inch is kinda nuts, I still remember when 50inchs was 12k+, but that was close to 25 years ago. Lol

    50 years ago - $2,986.88 in today's money.

(and this was a budget set, not a premium one like Zenith or RCA)

Pretty short sighted since it meant the down time if he wasn't there. I hate that in management and such it seems like people can be afraid of a challenge to their "spot".

I wasn't a manager per se but when I was in retail I happily trained and taught people whether asked to by the manager or not.
