With Rev-it jacket, PLUS the Helite vest I definitely feel weighted down. But like you said, once you're on the bike, I don't notice it. I've noticed the lack of airflow through the back of the jacket due to the Helite, but that's it. It's only annoying when I get off the bike, how heavy it all is, lol.

Back around 2010 I was at the Thunder in the Valley rally in Johnstown, PA on my Buell. There was a group of us all staying at a friend's place in town. We decided to head back into town, after a beverage or two, and another friend and I were horsing around getting on it a little. I wasn't drunk but had consumed a drink. Not sure what happened but I managed to dump the bike when I likely grabbed a bit too much front brake. Went down on the left side wearing a tank top which being a tank top shifted a bit. Let me tell you, having someone dump peroxide on your nipple helping clean it up burns like a mofo and I cried like a little girl. You do NOT want to experience this for yourself.

Get one of these and wear a hoodie or thin jacket over it. They are mesh and you will stay cool but have protection in key areas. I wear mine when it gets too hot for leather.

these are basically only good for off-roading, they offer no abrasion protection for road use

a mesh or high airflow jacket is better

that said I really want one lol

just a couple of things tbh
shockingly enough this bike isnt to heavy its around 490? so its pretty light compared to the bolt at 500 something. for me its just being bulky and annoying to move on the bike but i might get use to it. i just never did on that icon jacket.

My wife always does a ridiculous amount of research whenever she's new into something. She read so many studies and comparisons about different things, like what types of accidents are most common, the injuries, what type of gear help with what, etc etc.

The stuff comparing blue jeans to kevlar and dyneema stuff are crazy. Blue Jeans, might as well be wearing wet toilet paper in a slide, lol. And yeah, pads seem to help with low speed stuff, like if you just fall over, lol, or maybe take a rock to the chest/shoulder whatever. The Helite/other inflatables were some of the only things that reduced broken bones (and even those were mainly spine/tailbone) when t-boning a front quarter panel and being ejected straight over the vehicle. All very specific types of wrecks, each one has best protection from jacket, or airbag, or pad. best you can do is get ALL of them, which is what she made us do!

that will really only help in low speed falls. they're made for dirt not street. and a hoodie will wear through immediately in a slide.

Personally I just wear a textile jacket in the summer with the liner removed. has 2 zipper vents at the shoulder, 2 at the back. Dainese Avro D2 is the model. Moto jeans for pants. helmet/gloves.

I've been on the lookout for a more mesh-oriented jacket but haven't found one I liked much yet.

My point was it’s better than just wearing a t shirt of just a hoodie.

Yeah, I've had road rash before, from falling off a bicycle. That can be at home first aid. Road rash that eats through your skin, muscle, and into the bone is a whole different animal. I really really don't want that happening.
