UDRD supercharger?

Hey guys I was looking at the Underdog racing development supercharger kits for the 2005-2012 tacomas with the 2.7L engine. Was wondering if anyone has put one in, and their thoughts on it. Reliability both of the kit, and of your truck after an extended period of time, common problems, DIY vs paying a shop, and overall was it worth it to you?

I don’t know what the hate is with URD. I’ve had nothing but great experiences with them and gadgets been a great help.

 

Personally, my customer support experience with them has been terrible. I tried buying a fuel pump from them for my LS swap build, and after placing my order, I got emailed asking why I needed that big of a pump. And got into an argument with them over email, only to find out the reason they were arguing with whether or not I needed the pump I purchased, was because they didnt carry the pumps anymore and didnt have one with the flow I needed.

Ive also had second hand experience on their supercharger kits. they're terrible, the tuning support sucks for them, and the fit and finish isn't good. You'd be way better of putting a Magnuson on it.

 

Thanks for the input. Sadly I’m pretty sure they don’t make super chargers from Magnuson for the 2.7L. Guess it’s just the world telling me I need the V6.

Better, but idk id be weary of it still. If you do a Magnuson on a v6 you can always use the OEM TRD SC calibration.

Is GOOD tuning actually available for that kit?

 

Someone on the performance part of the forum ordered a kit for his V6. Haven’t seen any updates yet.

 

That’s what I was thinking. I at least know it’s more likely to work than the others.

Gadget (Steve) can be hit or miss but seems like a good enough guy.

 

Actually there are at least 4 supercharger kits for the 2.7 that I know of. The VT racing kit mentioned above is one. URD is currently in the final stages of offering one. There is the Blitz one out of Japan offered by Blackhack. And then of course the Rotrex one from URD.
