I’ve been upgrading my suspension on stock frame and I haven’t found any hydraulic bump stops for the front, only for the rear. I came across off road alliance and it doesn’t really specify the fit for it, do you guys know of any upgrades besides the “sumo” style stops?

I think it just boils down to space. I would say they’re not necessary tho, a good set of super bumps or the like would be fine. When you need hydros in the front, you’re way past bolt on stuff.

I thought there’d be some kind of replacement similar to the cab mount relocation, you know cut the factory bump stop mount and weld the upgrade one or something along those lines. If there isn’t something like that off the shelf then you think it’d be good with the regular poly bumps upgrade?

I’ve only ever seen them for 3rd gens. But yeah just my opinion, I don’t think they’re necessary unless you’re building a pre runner or willing to do some custom fab work to make it happen. I think you’ll be fine with a nice poly bump. What do you use your rig for?

Just desert running really, I’ve always wanted long travel but I’m not going to pay 45k just like that, never been into overlanding really. What gets my blood pumping is going fast off-road

Is it your daily or dedicated desert truck? I only ask because wheelers super bumps are $130 and you’re talking $1k+ for a hydro bump set up. I mean obviously they hydros will outperform poly bumps but I’m just trying to be realistic.

Pretty solid set up there. Yeah like I said I feel like space is the issue with front bump stops but you could do something, probably custom work involved.

I’m waiting to have all my reservoirs changed to finned and then to add the new rear shock and bump stop, the “base” of my build is a stage 4 kit that I’ve been upgrading, once I get the new shock and resis changed then I think it’ll be the most I’ll get out of a stock frame

I get that haha I mean at the end of the day it’s $$$. If you’re on stock bumps I’d reccomend wheelers super bumps. I have them, they’re nice and will def get you by while you figure out the hydro bump situation.

Is the difference noticeable? I’ve bottomed out a few times and I can feel it through my bones on the stock bumps haha

Realistically I don't see a reason that kit wouldn't fit a 2nd gen if it fits a 3rd gen. Their design is to cut out the oem bump stop off the frame and weld that assembly in its place.

One of the reasons you don't see front hydro bump kits more commonly is the leverage and lack of arm movement of the location the factory bump is in. The bump stop is really close to the LCA frame mount so the arc the arm travels in in that area means that a hydro bump would be engaged almost all the time and would likely impact normal ride quality. The best way to do it would be a 'slapper' style setup like Camburg does on some of their kits(very common on their Raptor stuff)

Adding a front secondary bypass shock would probably be a better option, you get more tunability throughout travel and have a bump zone you can stiffen in the bypass shock

So I would have to get a different shock? The one I have is the compression and rebound adjustment shock but it doesn’t have the specific point of travel adjustment that I would get with say a bypass king shock.
I stuck with Icon because I get great warranty with all my components since they are part of the same kit in a way.

That’s a nice setup. Have you thought about spindle gussets?

I think they mean you’re going to want to tune your secondary shock to ‘act’ as a bump stop towards the end of its travel to help slow everything down.

Its all in what you want to do, I like going fast but also overlanding so I built to what was needed.

I beefed everything up from spindles to shock mounts. Its important to base out what you wanna do.

This is 2in Long Travel Total Chaos. Tbh what relentless fab said is pretty spot on, im not running bumps up front because I have to tuned just right. Now do I still plan to put some on... yes.

He has Icon's version of a bypass shock, but it bolts onto the stock LCA skid I think. @COLDTACO2

I don't think you would need to start replacing shocks. You can revalve the secondary one that you have.

Total Chaos makes a mid travel bypass LCA, but I think it would be a replacement to what you have. I actually have their mid travel bypassed setup with Kings. Mine are revalved too, and it's my daily driver.

Unfortunately for me, there aren't long stretches of offroad in VA or the east coast where I am, so I cant make the most of my setup. But I have Wheeler's Super Bumps and they are an improvement over stock! Also check out Perry Parts bumps.
