Hi everyone. I have a 2013 model and I am converting my OEM stereo head unit to a 2014 OEM stereo navigation unit.

The illumination on my 2014 stereo head unit button does not work when I turn on my night lights.

When I swapped in the 2014 head unit, it works fine for the most part. Everything works with the exception of the button illumination on the newer head unit. I cant tell if the lighting is defective or maybe the 2014+ models have different wiring compared to my 2013 for illumination. I tried to test voltage to what I think should be the illumination pin #1 located on the 28 pin connector in the back of the head unit based on the pinout guide I found online.

Here's the diagram for the 28 pin connector I am referring to:

Here's the matching pin I am targeting to test illumination by applying 12 volts to it (pin #1)

I learned by a few things while testing all of the pins behind the navigation unit. The head unit screen will actually dims when I apply 12 volts to the following pins on the stereo speaker pins:

The head unit screen also dims when I apply 12 volts to Pin #1 on the 28 pin connector, but still no button illumination when any of these pins gets voltage!

For anyone that has done this stereo conversion, has anyone had had any issues converting OEM head units like me? Or was it a simple plug and play swap with no issues for you? Any feedback would help from anyone that has done this conversion before would help. Thanks!
