I hear it is not so in Texas. Lethal force to protect property is allowed.

I know what you mean. I live 15 miles outside of Portland, Oregon. I don’t use the Club around where I live. When I have to go to downtown Portland, the Club always goes on my steering wheel.

My wife gave up trying to turn her 2023 Tacoma's key fob off, and bought two Faraday bags instead. A good thing about turning it off is that it saves some of the internal battery's life, but having to push buttons so many times in crowded parking lots is nothing but a pain if you are in a hurry.

There are two things to keep in mind when using Faraday bags that have an additional pocket, and that is that only one of the two pockets is shielded, not both, at least the faraday bags my wife has. Better to follow the instructions from the manufacturer.

I have tried the two bags my wife bought from Amazon, and they completely block the key fob signals. Once you place the key fob in right pocket of the bag, you cannot lock/unlock the doors by touching the door handles, not even start the engine. That's why I said before that whatever you do once you have turned the engine off and placed the key fob in the Faraday bag, and then lock the door manually with the lock button on the door... to make sure that you don't forget to take the bag with you. Otherwise that only way to unlock the door when you come back is with the spare key fob.

I like the idea of a kill switch. I would need help in finding the right wire to splice in a kill switch. Put it somewhere kinda out of sight but easy to reach and turn on. Maybe a wire going to the starter or brake pedal. I also turn my fob off but I’m reading here that’s not fool proof. I think a kill switch would be fool proof if well hidden.

For me, I'm not risking my life going outside to confront someone in the driveway. No way. I'll miss my truck if it gets spanked but it's a thing I can replace.

Neighbor’s husband who scared the turds off is a retired Toyota master mechanic. Guy on the other side a shade tree mechanic. They both think the turds were looking for something inside the truck to steal. They both say stealing a modern car is not easy. Especially since the fob is turned off religiously. I’ve been parking in the back yard behind the gate since the incident. Fucking thieving bastards. Get a real job and try to be the man your dog thinks you are!

This is the most likely. You'd be shocked by how many people wander up a street at 1-3 AM and randomly test door handles. I have two vehicles in the drive. They are empty and locked every night. There are also spotlights with motion detectors and a camera. Lights and locked cars deter 95% of crime. The camera has the occasional log of hooded figures walking along the curb, turning towards the drive, and about-facing as soon as the spotlights kick on.

Its funny how neighbors complain all the time about personal items being stolen from their front seat. I keep telling them stop being the easy target - lock your car and bring the backpack inside at night. I usually get a glazed look and a "I shouldn't have to do that" as a response. I agree that you shouldn't have to do that. But we live in the world that is, not the world that should be.

Totally, and most thefts are of opportunity. Don't make it easy at least and your chances of being passed up after that much better.

I'm the type that locks my truck and fully rolls up the windows even if I leave it in the driveway for under 5 minutes.

Disconnect the battery, fuel pump and starter fuses and put it up on jack stands. Then rig up a zig zag pattern across the yard with fishing line. When the thieves trip tar them and feather them. :burp:

My Pee Wee style aluminum baseball bat has nary a dent in it. Yet! It moonlights as a Shillelagh stick.

Make sure that you keep a glove and a couple of baseballs near it - just in case.

Wouldn't they increase their chances at the dealer if they wanted a truck?
