I was very confused… the compressor and jackstands completely belong in the garage, but so does the stuff in the lower left. But if you have a shed, maybe there. The stuff in the lower right I thought was give away, but I got confused with the Dewalt in the upper right. So I decided that was elsewhere and the lower left was nieces and lower right was chemicals, etc.

 

I don't foresee interest rates dropping any time soon, given the nearly runaway inflation we had for a good number of years. The fed needs to get inflation back under control before they shift it either direction. The signs point far more to an increase than a decrease any time soon. They've already stated they don't want to lower rates out of fear of creating a "runaway rollercoaster" of sorts that we already saw during the earlier boom from 2015-2022.

That's as far as I can delve into the subject without potentially running amok of the current political/policy issues related to the recent drop in housing sales...

Everything is related and effects each other.

 

That smell netted me a $200 tip.

Customer contracted me to change the spindles on his zero turn. Failed to tell me before I started wrenching that he had a large dog.

I let him know that I will be power washing the mower in the future before any work takes place. I wasn't mean, just wanted to get a chuckle out of it.

He told me there are very few peeps that will fix shit and he wanted to keep me happy for future repairs. Take the 2 Bills in thanks for not beating me up too bad over the dog crap residue.

I told him I was very thankful and he was welcome to reach out for future repairs...and he has. Some customers are worth keeping.

I legit couldn't care less what happens to this stuff. Haven't fried a turkey in 10 years, don't have small kids or a dog that loves water anymore so the pool has to go, the sprinkler controller works but was upgraded, we don't have tiki torches anymore, the cones were used to teach the kids to drive and the ancient torque wrench has never been used by me and was replaced and none of our vehicles besides the Elantra has a trunk so the bike rack needs to go.

That goes in the mechanical room in the basement (which is directly accessible from the garage) because batteries and cold winters in the garage don't get along.

 

I agree, I think a lot of folks don’t recall the days of 13-15% interest rates on housing. Even my buydown was 7.5% and that was good! I refinanced as soon as interest rates made it worthwhile and turned a 30 into a 15 and I’ve been paid off for a while now. I plan to move after retirement, but the trends of the last 10 years concern me. Especially my for my kids options. The cost to living value is just an imbalance currently… aka inflation. Until the global economy smooths out. It’s the long game.

 

My neighbor tells me he remembers being really happy when they secured a 14% interest rate on their mortgage 40 years ago.

Amazing to me how much perception has changed over the same time period.

 

Yea, I have a system using R22 freon, the serviceman told me last time, if any trouble with the evaporator, condenser, compressor and/or any leakage found in these components, it would be a subject to replace with a new system.

 

And, besides all that....the oil price starts going up

 

Those was the time that a single income can raise the family and still able to pay the mortgage without having a diploma. My daughter finished her college, making much higher salary than I had, yet, she’s struggling to buy her a new home.

Oh, I completely agree. I doubt I'll see what interest rate my current mortgage is for a long time, if ever again. It however was the only way I was able to afford a somewhat decent, albeit ugly and outdated, house. Even with close to $75-$100K in equity it just doesn't math.

I know many years ago the rates were 14%+, but those were different times. A family with one income could make it work. Not so much nowaday's. I'm lucky to be in a position I can swing it all by myself, but my house is far from fancy or nice.

 

Growing up in the ‘70s was tough but most of us in my circles were in the same situation so we didn’t know any better….

Also, it’s not just interest rates, there’s so much speculation out there. Yes, I’m guilty with that small ranch I got but it’s widespread. The worst is when communities become air bnb heavy. The breakdown in community is devastating. To the point some towns up here are passing ordinances to prevent but then speculators try to recoup what they put into the property and empty houses just sit on the market. Some of that are corporations buying residential houses… I’m all for the free market but that just benefits the wealthy at the expense of the people…

I was going to head out to water the plants. Heard a rumble of thunder and headed back in to check the radar.



I think the plants will be sufficiently watered today. Along with me on my way into work.

Its been so darn moist around here I haven't had to water anything all Spring. I ripped out some shrubbery and put some grass seed down. Stuff is already growing pretty fast. Complete opposite of last year when it was drier than a popcorn fart

 

Sometimes I look like a poor man. I don't carry change in my pockets. My truck ash tray has change in it. For those young folks, you used to could smoke in your own vehicle

I have a thing in my car that I keep change in, if I go in a store I will see how much change I have. The other day I got something and had 2 one dollar bills, the total was $3.95...........I counted and counted and walked out with 3 pennies

 

Cole mowed our yard last Weds, we got some rain Saturday and yesterday and the yard needs mowing again. I'm glad we got the rain, the garden needed it.

 

We've been kind of all or nothing this year. I had a sprinkler zone disabled because there were some heads that didn't want to pop up. Took care of that on Saturday after I mowed but the difference between that zone and the one right next to it was surprising. Figured I better take care of it before I ended up having to re-seed that part of the yard.
