Hey TW, hoping to gain some additional input on the this noise I’ve been dealing with ever since I got my 2nd gen at around 60k. Now has 98k.
The noise is a squeak when engine is at idle. It does change by RPM. But the strange thing is that the noise only starts once the engine is fully warmed up after driving about 5 to 10 miles. I’ve changed the belt and all new pulleys and tensioner. Water pump, ac compressor, alternator and power steering are still original. I have tried spinning the different accessories by hand but bearings feel good. I work on large industrial gensets so I have a good feel for bad bearings.
I don’t want to load up the parts cannon but I’m kinda at my wits end with the noise. It’s not terribly loud but definitely noticeable. Even tried to listen to each pulley with a mechanics stethoscope but still unable to pinpoint the noise. Has anyone else experienced this? I have come across another 2nd gen in the wild with the same noise. At least that’s what it sounded like to me.
I’ve attached two videos of the noise. Seems to me it’s on the drivers side. Alternator or ac compressor? Let me know what you think of it you have experienced the same noise.

Is it possible to warm it up to where it would normally produce it, then take the belt off and start it for a second to isolate that it’s one of the accessories, belt or pulleys?

Definitely sounds like a pulley bearing or an accessory on that side. Is the AC clutch engaged when it makes this sound? You can turn AC on and off to see if the sound changes which might help eliminate that device.

It won’t start making the noise by just idling up to temperature. Tried that route already. Haven’t taken off the belt to run it without but I’m pretty sure it’s one of the accessories.

pitch changes slightly when compressor engages but I think it’s relative to RPM changes when it cycles on and off.
