Is this something I should be concerned will get worse? Truck only has 900 miles on it.

    It's not an issue.

If you want to do something about it, to make you feel better.
Buy a can of FluidFilm or PB Blaster - Surface Shield. Hit with a shot of that once or twice a year and call it good.
If you want to get "really deep" into the fix. Use some rust convertor and hit it with a good name brand rattle can paint.

Again, nothing to worry about there.
So much so, that not even a dealership or Bodyshop would waste their time on it.
They'd hit it with a rattle can paint and send you on your way.

I’d just pick up a harbor freight special $2 wire wheel for a drill and go at it…follow that with some Krylon and call it done.

first time I looked under a 4th gen I knew those things would be the first to take a beating

Thanks for the replies, it’s reassuring. I don’t recall scraping it on anything. I was scoping out the rocker for running boards and noticed it.

Sand the rust off then spray it with flat black rustoleum.

+1. I keep a can of semigloss black Rustoleum farm implement enamel around for stuff like this. It’s kept most of my stuff in pretty good shape.

If concerned with surface rust on vulnerable areas, I recommend Rust Encapsulator spray from Eastwood. Used it for years.
Simply wire brush the rust, wipe clean, then spray on. Works great.

Probably during production. Maybe they dropped the frame? Was there an issue with getting the trailing arm in? Do all of the frames come out looking like that. Did the load of frames shift during transport.

This was my thought as well. Zero damage or scratches under the truck besides that one spot.

    Brand new. Coming soon.
Dunkin, I crawled under mine when I got it brand new. Sprayed everything with flat black Rustoleum. Used high temp flat black Rustoleum for engine parts, exhaust, etc. for this very reason. Even brand new I saw some rust spots under there.

If you're rustproofing the truck yearly before each winter, there's nothing to do now. The lower link mount is in a vulnerable spot to get peppered with road debris and hung up off-road. It's also a popular spot to place lift arms when the truck is hoisted up for oil changes. i.e. expect recurring scrapes and paint chips there.
