Hey y’all, I recently took my 03 in to get a wheel bearing replaced. Normally, I do all my own work, but I’m in a pinch. Anyway, half way through the job they pull me in to the shop to show me that what should be the replacement part doesn’t look anything like what’s in the steering knuckle currently and won’t fit. So, I called Toyota, and explained the situation. I was able to get a part number from Toyota. The shop ordered the part and told me it didn’t fit. I’ve scoured the internet; and, have found videos of people installing what looks like the parts I need. But, their provided part numbers send me back to square one. At this point, just about my only choice is to replace the whole damn knuckle and hub. Hopefully, someone out there has some advice or some links to where I can get these mysterious parts. TIA

Unfortunately, these are the only 2 pictures I have and, the tone ring is in the way. What’s on the left is what’s currently there (no part number available). The picture on the right is part number 90369-54002, which is gigantic compared to the existing one; and, is supposedly too big to fit in the knuckle.

    Im tired...
Not sure if im reading correctly, you got the same "correct" part via part# wrong twice?
If you did only 1x from toyota, sometimes manufacturers put the wrong part in the correct box...
If you had the wrong part 2x, chances are im steering you in the wrong direction.

Did you buy the truck new, only owner?
Wondering if its been wrecked & wrong part / application installed, if its truly wrong...

I’m not the first owner. I have no clue if the last 2 owners did something funky. But, the picture on the right is what the shop ordered ( I believe from Napa). The part number from Toyota pulls up the exact same part wherever I look. So, that supposedly IS the right part. But, it’s not what’s been in the truck for the last however many years.

That’s what I thought at first too. But, I’ve looked at 2wd, 4wd, prerunner, 4Runner, and whatever else I can think of. Every video I’ve seen looks like what’s in my truck. But, I haven’t found a part number that leads to those parts. I’m inclined to think they were discontinued or something.

Pretty straight forward to resolve -

Do you have CV Axles? If no and you have 6 lugnuts then you have a PreRunner.

Regardless, hit up partsouq.com and enter your VIN#.
    https://partsouq.com/en/catalog/genuine/locate?c=Toyota

Once you do that, you'll see something like this -

    upload_2025-6-16_23-2-53.png

Now, click on the 2nd tab (SEARCH) and type in:
    4303 - FRONT AXLE HUB

You should now have this on your screen, there are your part#s

For what it's worth, yes - both 6 lug 2WD and 4WD tacos use the same wheel bearing. 90080-36071 which has been discontinued and replaced with:

    90369-54002

Also, this gives you an idea of what is involved with replacing the wheel bearing. You will need access to a shop press. If you can access the tools and press, it is not a difficult job. This video is on a 4WD knuckle but it's essentially very close to being the same.

This one is on a 2WD 4Runner - instead of a shop press he's using an OEM Tools knockoff of OTC's Hub Grappler.
