I’m racking my brain on deciding what u bolts to get with all the options. I have the All Pro Expedition leaf springs that I will be installing soon and the U bolts are the last thing I need to complete the suspension upgrade.

I’m not going to do the u bolt flip as my shocks are attached to the spring plates and I’d have to do a rear shock relocation. What U bolts are decent cost $40 - $80 range, yet strong?

Do I do 9/16th? Would 5/8 even fit or would I have to drill the holes bigger? What grade?

These are the options I’ve seen: Headstrong, Toytec, Rough Country, Wheeler’s, Barnes 4WD (5/8th only), Torch Off Road, etc.

They're U-bolts- just get whatever 9/16" (14mm) ones you want. Keep in mind they come long, and you'll need to cut them to length.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but I haven't heard of a u-bolt failing due a strength issue. I've seen plenty of people re use them and subsequently strip the threads when trying to re torque them.. but never like "I did a mega huck, and my u bolts broke".

Or leave them long with no trim see how it rolls...
I saw a superb grey tundra once rolling down the 40 in NC...not sure what gen it was
But he had the long bolt look going on under there and I sorta admired and thot that there is some badassery and wish mine weren't so hacked to fck and just left long...
Plus that btch was hauling ass down the mountain near 100mph...I almost was able to keep in stride with em lmao

Ps...pay up for the ones that will not get all rusty patina unless you into that look

Next time, just measure, thread the nuts on past the marks, cut on the bench, clean up the cut with a taper, and then remove the nuts, hit the exposed metal with rattle can, and done. I wouldn't ever try to cut them on the truck. Not that's impossible, but it's just so much easier to do it on the bench.
