    Sorry about that didn’t know.

I recently sold my 02 (which I loved) for my current truckand I’m still getting used to all the upgraded electrical garbage. Didn’t know what stuff they added during thelife of the 2nd gen. Wish Toyota would have left out some of the noise from the drivetrain though.

2011 2.7 4X4. No beeps here for 4wd. Guess I shouldn't be suprised; the only option my truck came with is the sliding rear window. :D

Manual 6 speeds definitely beep once you engage Reverse (as mentioned it beeps at the same time as the reverse camera comes on).
I agree with some of you guys though that Reverse is hard enough to get into that it's easy to tell Reverse from 1st but oh well, I'm used to it now!

OP sounds like just let it dry out and if it doesn't work trace the wires..Good luck!

6 spds beep but only if it has a camera never gave it a thought because mine works wonder if the beep comes from the mirror? I drove German cars for years their reverse is in the same place so it's normal for me.

Well, beep returned over the weekend. Worked 95% of the time, had 2 or 3 times when it didn't work, and I noticed it was on a slight incline. Not sure what the deal is.

    Lots baby!
I believe there is a switch on the side of the trans that activates this. My guess this is your problem.

YES! that is it! Got a new switch from NAPA for half what the stealership wanted. Will work on it tomorrow. I might do a write up since I believe this forum does not have it.

I, for the first time after 5years of owning my truck, just today heard/noticed the reverse beep.

I don't understand why you would need a beeper to let you know you have it in reverse.

I think they did it on the 6 spd as a safety measure due to reverse and 1st being near each other and it taking the same motion to get there where as on the 5 spd reverse is below 5th and has a lockout so you can't go from 5th to reverse. The reverse detent is so strong on the 6 spd though you have to be intentional to put it in reverse, not gona accidentally do it unless your really aggressive with the shifter.

    Do your reverse lights work?

If not check the IG1 Fuse (10A) in the interior fuse box first, if that's good unplug the reverse switch on the transmission and jump across the connector with a small paperclip or wire (don't use anything that would spread the terminals) and see if they come on. If they do you need a reverse switch, if they don't we will need to check wiring

Hey thanks for the reply just watched a video on the paperclip diagnosis and turns out that’s exactly what it is!. I will be ordering a replacement right now. Looks like the part number for it is, 84210-52050
