One of my first modern day off-road park group trips included a Raptor. It was jumping the humps like a trophy truck.

I can't afford one, and have become a "dyed in the wool" Toyota guy, but there was a time in the 80s and 90s when I was all about Fords.

Belonging to some great vBulletin sites with a wealth of knowledge like TW changed all of that.

month warranty ? id run it in a pinch. Probably lowball/try a partial trade for parts unless they have good proof it ran before pulled

My tacoma has a $500 3.4 i picked up from a similar part out… that was 9 years ago now lol

Porsche uses them on the front of all the 911's and 718's. Its a very economical setup to achieve great kinematic performance in a limited range of travel.

yee, not sure what he’s looking for but if they have any proof its a runner...at that price it might be worth picking up even for parts. my concern would be that like 80pct of *RZ never seem to get valve adjustments so it may still need a head even if it is a runner. but dont see many 3rz pop up and when they do the ones ive seen were 2k

I'm pretty sure there was a Black Mirror episode about exactly this sort of thing and it did not end well

I appreciate y’all looking for me, especially as I am not sure what route I’m headed yet. It still runs so I can get to work, but I’m short on time these days and have some other stuff I should probably fix first. Also I’m moving lol.

seems I can get a complete 4.0 drivetrain to swap for $4300, which would be fun and time consuming and would end up being way more expensive than that.

A rebuilt 3rz seems to be about $3100 shipped, not sure what quality parts they use.

I can put a new head on mine for about $1000 and take a chance with the 260k mile bottom end, which so far burns no oil and sounds good.

I dunno. Maybe I could just sawzall a hole in the floor and flintstone it

It's doing the same function as a real performance cam, tightening lobe separation angle, you have control of both camshafts with VVT so you just tighten them way up at idle. Only thing it doesn't have that a performance camshaft would is higher lift values. Nice thing is unlike a static performance cam with VVT I can make it snap out of the chop the instant I touch the accelerator so it isn't a dog from a stop.

If the truck is good enough to make the move then I support punting until you're settled in, no need to make things more complicated.

Pop into the Colorado BS thread and introduce yourself, there are some good fabricators in the front range who might be able to help with the work, or at least help you empty beer cans while the work meanders along.
