Yeah, it protects the burned skin from infection.....but I just can't stand it. Neosporin or silvadene makes it ok :D

Like I said, hospital folks are usually the worst patients  I have to tell people all the time to do stuff that I know I absolutely wouldn't be able to do. When I was in the hospital with my ankle, I got labeled as non-compliant b/c I wouldn't call and ask for help to go to the bathroom. Those assholes put a bed alarm on me  I was like "You gave me a walker"

Thats an awesome old time adventure. Jealous I wasn't in the right places for something similar in my youth, but can at least make up for some of it now.

    Those trips are the best.

Miss going out in the truck a little. Just getting to places most of the population never will see or experience

12 hours to get a dog? Why?

Not getting any more dogs for a long while after our two pass. Over it.

she is the white ish taller one. we are thinking heeler shepard mix

we like dogs? idk she was 5 hours one way but with stops on the way back to let her use the bathroom it took longer.

i drove 4.5 hours for my heeler one way. i like a certain breed which is blue and red heelers or known as Australian cattle dogs. the gf had looked for one for a bit and found her and really liked how she looked so we drove down to get her.

They really are that great. My time spent in SAR, and a good friend still being very active, I often saw or heard about the benefits. It makes the search much shorter when the teams have your exact location, and also helps knowing injuries and stuff before folks get there.

My wife and I used to go out a lot alone with the Taco. We always were planning an Owyhee trip, and I said I wouldn't go without one. Always been too busy with other stuff, and that has forever been placed on the back burner. If I ever do go out there, I'll borrow one for sure.

Just turned 40 in April, so I'm not far behind you.

I just always assumed I'd have the family and kids. It's literally why I wanted a 4 door Tacoma. Growing up in jump seats of a ranger, and then a cramped back seat of a Chevy Cheyenne extended cab... I didn't want to do that to my kids, lol.

Here I am almost 14 years later, married, zero kids, and plans have changed. The no kids thing has really set my wife and I up for the whole FIRE thing. I have friends that make far more money than we do, but they're pretty much forced to spend my income level on day care and kid stuff. They love it, and that's great, but the wife and I have decided to be selfish, lol. I just reached out a couple days ago to a Ford dealer about a 2026 F450... definitely couldn't do that if I had a kid or two to put through college!

But hey, if folks do want kids, including later in life, nothing wrong with that. My wife's parents are divorced, and her dad remarried and had a kid. My wife's half sister is like 21 years younger than her. Plans can and do change.

Same. All my money is spent on what I want to do. After early 30s went from maybe to no way.

plus having kids now, would be almost 60 when they are outta the house and that sounds awful.

They (kids) don’t always leave when you think they will. I still have a 25 year old at the house. I get it, everything is way more expensive than when I was growing up. The youngest is a good kid, that did not want to go to college. Higher Education is not for everyone and I get that. But…… it doesn’t help a lot when momma will not pop kiddo of her tit (as I say).

Wifey helps her out so much, that in my mind, kiddo is not learning how to do things on her own or how to get/figure some things out. But that is our fight. Wifey is doing better with it though along with kiddo.

Love my girls to death, but dang… as messed up as it sounds. I still would not trade for the world. I still do anything I can for these two boogers. They are mine and I can call ‘em whatever I want. Haha

I keep telling Wifey, when is our time to have fun.

This is not a rant at all, just all families out there are different in every way.

Nothing wrong with that. My expectations were different with my girls. One did good, the other not so good. So I’m batting a .500.. that’s supposed to be some kinda baseball term I think.
