Oil filter change

I've got a 2011 Toyota Tacoma 2.7 l 4 cylinder engine and want to change the oil filter myself. I found the filter but it has a black cover on it with 2 bolts attached. Is this jus t a cover for this filter? I have looked on the internet and can't find anything similar to this.

 

The video I saw on a 2.7 filter change did not show a cover over the oil filter. It was high on the block with the alternator nearby as you viewed the filter up from below.

 

I don't see a "black cover with 2 bolts" in the pic, but my eyes are 62 years old. I see a something silver/gray with 2 bolts, but it looks like the starter. Is that a pic of the driver's/left side of the engine? My 2013 has a 2TR-FE, and the oil filter is on the passenger/right side of the engine.

But now I'm second guessing because I just do it without thinking about what side of the engine it is. Either way, there is no "cover" of any kind on the filter.
