Sorry the weather busted your planning...

I was able to mow our yard on Tuesday...and ready for trash/recycle/yard waste pick-up on Wednesday.

Heading down to the Outlets in Rehoboth, DE for some sneakers!

Thank the man upstairs (and Willis Carrier) that my house has dual-zone central A/C, and a window unit in my bedroom; also, that my beloved 220K-mile shitbox has A/C that will literally numb fingers and harden nipples!

Yes, I have a window unit in my bedroom even though the house dual-zone central air.

    Why?

    Tract home halfassery. That’s why.

So, the morons who built this house back in 2016 ran a 12-inch duct into a 10-inch vent. This means that without the window A/C, I sometimes have to set the thermostat for the second floor as low as 65°F to keep my room comfortable. My room in our previous house, which also had dual-zone central A/C, was cold enough to hang meat in even with the thermostat set above 70°F.

So, my dad has two options…

The first option would be to replace the entire duct so it’s all 12 inches. The second, cheaper, option would be to run a new duct from the indoor unit in the attic and cut a hole for a new vent. In the meantime, the window unit is a much cheaper alternative to both of those. I have autism in one of my sensory issues is that I do not sleep well when it’s hot. My parents are very empathetic to this issue and that’s why they got me the window unit. I had one of those portable units with the hose that went out the window, which I got for free in 2021from a friend who relocated to Florida, but something went wrong with the condensate drain on that unit and it made a massive mess on the carpet; my dad bribed me with the window unit two summers ago in order to get rid of the portable unit that I’d gotten for free

Here is a pic of my interesting-looking HVAC setup…

The downstairs furnace has shit the bed for the second time this year; I forget what broke on it in February, but it was a relatively simple part, in terms of both cost and replacement. The rest of the system, including the A/C and blower, works just fine; I have the A/C cranked right now and it works great! Just the furnace doesn’t work. However, the furnace decided to quit on a moderately cold day a few weeks ago, and our HVAC guy was too busy to come out. Now, with temps heading into the 90s, we obviously WILL NOT be needing the furnace for the foreseeable future. The upstairs furnace works just fine, and we also have a gas fireplace, but I don’t think we will be needing the heat until around Halloween!

Stay cool out there fellers, easy to say for an SOB who has the air cranking and staying mostly inside on my days off.

Had the day off yesterday so got my Kubota engine oil changed out, after owning for 9 years she's got a whopping 161 hours on it

I'm done with work for the day but holy hell I'm drained. I hate heat like this anyways. There's no happy mediums it's either rain and goes straight to the oven.

Add the wet and heat to the fact that it’s inside a glass building with 0 air movement and that’s what I get to deal with at work.
Last few weeks of safety meetings have been about heat exhaustion, then the safety people go back to their ac.

Ant and @steelcity2 is the treadle pedal as ass as the internet says it is? I’m really thinking hard between a BX, JD 1 series, or a Yanmar 223.
