I have a 2007 Tacoma that I bought in 2019. I have the original window sticker. One option it came with originally is "Drop hitch with wire harness and ball mount". It did not have a hitch when I bought it, but I do see a wire hanging, underneath the truck by the bumper. See the picture:

Is this for towing? Anyone know what to call this wire? I think it is for towing and I need to find some type of convert to get a standard 4 pin trailer connector.

I don’t think that’s the towing plug. The stock wiring is a 7-pin harness for the OEM towing wiring. Do both sides of your tail lights and turn signals work? I remember there is a similar plug that the passenger side tail light connects to across the rear of the bed.

Yes, both of my tail lights and turn signals work. Now I'm thinking maybe it is a brake controller plug.

Brake controllers operate through the 7-pin round lighting connector

You could always use a simple test light and have someone work the turn/brake and running lights to see if the plug has corresponding power, if you don't have help then use alligator clips or something and use a cheap back up alarm in place of the test light, and you don't need help then for the test... just a thought...

061860-0820 should be the sup harness with the 4 pin trailer connector that plugs into the connector you have.

I'd verify you have everything at the connector first though (Left & Right Stop/Turn, Tail, & Ground), even though the harness is there the Towing Converter may not be installed.
