I recently saw a video on adding a kill switch to my Taco. I think it was a 41.22 kill switch. It looked pretty straight forward on the install. Just wondering if anyone has used this kill switch or has installed some type of kill switch. I don’t live in a bad crime ridden area but we do live in a broken world full of scum bag thieves.

I’d be more worried about the tailgate and the cats…that’s what people bother to steal these days.

best theft prevention for the truck itself is being equipped with the 3rd pedal.

I’ve done what I can on the tailgate (anti theft bracket), I only got two pedals. Haven’t done anything to protect the cat. I do turn my fob off, that isn’t much but it could help. Here in Arkansas you can’t take a cat to the metal scrape place without a vin # and that might help some cause I rarely hear about cat thefts anymore. A sherif deputy at my church said he hasn’t had a report of a cat theft in our county in almost two years. But any how I was just wondering about a kill switch. The 41.22 switch looked easy peasy to install.

The 41.22 works fine. Make sure you use the correct relay. For my 2023 TRD OR it was the reverse relay.

While I don’t know any of them to be car thieves, I can't think of one personal acquaintance or family member that can't drive stick.
It's not quite as rare as TW makes it out to be.

    Maybe three on the tree...

Thanks for insight, I’ll pull the relay on my 2022 and look at it before I order one.

The 41.22 for the 3rd gen Taco comes with 2 relays: the normal one and the reverse relay. You do not have to order a specific kit or an additional relay.

Installed the Cali Raised cat shield on my 2018. Thefts are not an issue where I live but for under $200, I have a deterrent in place just in case...

Cat thefts may have gone down in most places but one cannot expect all "cat burglars" to be up to speed on recently enacted laws on proof of cat source when they sell it. Some will be clueless. Those are the ones likely to steal the cats. And the poor owner with no cat shield will have to deal with the expense and major inconvenience of replacing them.

I built one like this for my Kia and my daughters Hyundai since they were stolen a lot the last couple of years. No issues in almost 2 years.

extra fuse in middle is unnecessary but I had one anyways. Just hid the switch under the dash and I know exactly where it is by feel. Haven’t done truck yet since it’s normally in garage.
Guess I’m not saying which fuse was used but you can pull one fuse at a time and find one where it won’t crank haven’t looked on the Tacoma yet though.

Found out yesterday when trying-with the 41.22 kill switch installed, you lose the fob remote start function. Must be the reverse relay that causes this.

Didn’t know that, but not an issue with me cause I only used remote start once just see if it worked. So I’ll probably still order one soon.

    My guess is it's 1G1 No2.

lots and lots, never ending mods
I just ordered the 41.22 kill switch, I'm wondering if I can swap out the toggle for a factory style switch as there aren't many places to hide a toggle, the phone warmer power switch is a thought as I never use it, any thoughts?

I would think you could. You're simply replacing the 41.22 toggle switch with another with two states (on and off). The 41.22 micro switch is rated 3A which is the same as most factory style switches.
