Good morning. Put the new smoker on line. The first cook was a simple one, chicken thighs and brats. I keep working in the garage but it is getting hot here in the DC .

We have what the eggspurts call an indeterminate spring. In the last five years we had two Junes that were hades hot and dry. One not hot but very dry and windy. One probably near the mean in the 70°F range and this year cool and rain every 4-5 days or so. Corn is doing ok by the looks of it

That is a PNW Saying. Summer starts after the 4th!

Glad you have MacGyver skills to get out the trouble.
Speaking of the parts enquiry, I called the dealer to verify the part number so I could order it on their online website, the so-called parts man couldn’t help because he needs the Vin number of the vehicle just to find the part number for me. It’s a laughing stock these days!

Last week I drove up to Michigan to fetch an old bike my brother rescued from a snow bank thirty some years ago; as best as we can figure, it is a 1959 Hercules 3-Speed; the paint and fenders are a bit rough, the tires were put on shortly after he rescued the bike and are cracked, bulging, and essentially unrideable, the brake pads are hard as rocks, but the Hercules branded Sturmey-Archer 3-Speed hub is fully operational, the chain, wheels, cables, seat, and pedals are all in very good shape. Assuming my new job finally comes through, it will make the perfect bike to ride to the Gaithersburg, MD train station and ride into DC with.

Hell of a find. Snow bank?? Kinda odd unless it was completely disregarded.

I'll be 66 late this year. I've got a '97 parked in the driveway with a 2015 Outback.

    Morning all:

Yea, as far as I know it's the original wiring, probably should have been done a while back.
Looks like you guys agree that it was money well spent, makes me feel better! :)

I needed the Vin number to get the right length of the clutch hydraulic hose on an old 4-runner from a dealer, the dealer still got the wrong one and I ended up finding a used one at a junk yard. Two auto parts stores and then the dealer with the provided Vin all gave me one that was too short to fit in the metal fittings and lines that were bolted on to the firewall. :annoyed:

Why need Vin numbers, because from this Vin to that Vin they used one part, then from the next Vin to Vin they used another part, ect., and those parts may not interchange, I think Ford was always good for that, same for outboards.

Agree with it being a laughing stock these days, I needed intake gaskets for my 66 Chevy, 427 425hp, SHP (special high performance), rectangular port, three different auto parts stores were told those three things which "ALL" would designate rectangular port gaskets. None had them in stock and they would have to order them, and all three gave me the same part #. I stopped at another parts store and gave them the part # and they said they had them in stock, the guy came back with OVAL PORT gaskets that matched the part # that the other 3 had given me! I did end up getting the correct rectangular port gaskets there, he actually had them in stock.

Hey Carl, How about sharing a pic of that 66 Chevy. Those were great! My Dad had a 65 Impala SS, but it only had a 283 with a powerglide. It was still a cool car though. 2 of my friends in high school had 66 Impalas.
