Fantastic! I would appreciate a update on how the patch from AuCar worked.

Got the final update installed for the beep tone with lock/unlock. It also (kinda) fixed the interior lights off timer setting. It now displays time intervals when hitting the arrows, but the intervals when hitting the arrows seem kinda random. I'll post a video I sent him after these updates and you'll see what I mean. (He never responded to that video btw, and i guess that was that.) Communication with them isn't the fastest/greatest. It's like one tech guy and another person (that I've seen). When I was talking to him it went fairly smooth tho. I joined their Facebook group and reached out to them there. Took a while but they finally got back to me via messenger. Supposedly using WhatsApp is a better/quicker way to reach out to them. Just thought I'd throw that out there for you guys if you need to reach out to them. If you don't wanna bother with Facebook, send em an email and they'll provided details to contact them.

So, here's the latest update he sent me.
There was a total of 3 updates I installed. But from what I understand the last one includes previous fixes. Also, I can't guarantee this will work on your unit. They were asking for software versions so there may be different fixes for different versions, idk. But worth a try. I'd imagine they should all have the same version tho for the tacoma.

    How to update.
    Download file from this link
    1. Prepare a USB stick, make sure it is empty, copy the 'simplecanupdate.bin' file to the usb stick.
    2. Connect this usb stick to the USB port on our unit.then go to settings>>system>>upgrade>>plug box>>simple update. Then the system will automatically upgrade.
    3. Save and reboot

I downloaded the .bin to a USB drive and to the head unit itself when I push any of the update buttons under air pane or plugbox I get no action.

    Any ideas?

it comes with a block off for the button. You could probably modify it to do another function as well.

Actually you don't have to use that as its just a pop in. They send you a couple blanks if that's the case I believe.

I figured out last night how to add a front facing camera with this unit. I originally bought the r4t anytime camera kit and it didnt work with their harness. But all you need is the camera itself (like $40 on amazon) and it's the same camera they use in the r4t kit. Others may work. But it's pretty simple to do. There's an aux rca it plugs in to in the back. Along with a blank 12v power source wire to plug the camera trigger wire into. Controlled by the camera app which has rear view option, as well as 'side view' option. Will post pics later when I finish her up.

Finished up the install. Pretty straight forward. Happy with it, even tho the resolution/quality leaves something to be desired (due to the nature of this larger head unit). I decided to just keep the whole r4t kit and leave the camera in as I had already installed it in the grille. And in case the aucar unit ever kicked the bucket, I could re-install the factory radio, and install the r4t harness with relay and switch..

    Pictures should be self explanatory but;
    • Camera wires (neg/positive)
      • Positive(not used)
      • Negative(grounded in engine bay)
    • camera rca (yellow rca plug)
      • Plugs into 'AUX-V'
    • camera trigger wire (green wire lead from rca)
      • Wired/spliced (with connectors/posi-tap/wire-tap) into brown 'CCD-12V' wire
    • 3 mini wires (nearest camera, for orientation, included in instructions) were cut for correct orientation and removing grid lines.
*Depending which grille you have, install of the camera itself will vary. I had to dremel out a small notch in the back on mine, to get better access to the nut.
