    Hey All,

I just did a tune up on my 5vzfe with 120k miles. When I did a MAF sensor cleaning and throttle body cleaning it was pretty fricken dirty in there. I bought the truck at 68k miles. Started off-roading it at 103k miles, definitely dusty trails. I was surprised by the dirt caked onto the MAF sensor and other regions of the intake. I change my air filter every 5k miles or after the off road season with a microgard and think I'll switch to OEM going forward. I wish I took pictures for reference.

Should I be alarmed or is this somewhat normal with this type of off road use?

Edit: this is most likely the first time these things have been cleaned

Make sure your intake boots and all of the connections are tight and sealed then otherwise I would even try leaving the filter in a bit longer. Every time you open the air box you disturb and allow dirt into the system.

Nothing is perfect though and especially with driving in dusty conditions, it's not uncommon to dust after the filter or a dirty maf after a while
