I've read a lot of mixed reports when using E Rated LT tires on a Tacoma.

I got a great deal on a set of BFG ko2s that I won't need anytime soon but have the usual concerns of premature wear and fuel mileage vs the Toyo AT3 111t I am currently using.

The Toyos weigh around 42 lbs vs 49 lbs for the ko2. Fuel mileage took a slight hit from the original HTs when I installed the ATs but I noticed no difference in acceleration.

Can anyone tell me thier long term experience with these heavier tires in stock sizes and truck configurations? Any issues with alignment, balancing, bearings, etc.

I need an AT tire and hear good things about how the ko2s wear but if the heavy tire is going to be damaging I'll sell them.

    The truck is a stock SR5 with 245 75 16s.

    Thanks

I run 255/85/16 KM2/KM3 e-rated for offroad and 265/75/16 Falken at3w/at4w passenger rated for street tires. 345k miles on my truck now and I bought it with 30k. Mileage between the two really isn't noticable, some people are more sensitive than others, but honestly riding with a passenger or groceries can be the same as the weight difference of tires.. I don't switch back to street tires immediately after a trip, I'll usually leave the e-rated on for a couple months. No issues with alignment/balancing/bearings/other due to the slightly heavier tire/size difference/agressive tread/weight rating.

Brand and model of tires can have more to do with tire wear than your other worries. Different compounds and speed ratings and even your driving style can play large rolls.

There are obvious outliers here (30mpg..) but then some are fillups from offroad trips, some trips across country with varying fuel grades or stations, some evap and catalytic issues, etc
