so i use a modded iPod for music (256GB, about 17,000 songs) because i haven't found a streaming service i like or that has all the artists i already have on the iPod. plus i like that the head unit recognizes it and can navigate it natively.

has anyone else found any other digital audio players that work as well as an iPod?

    Plex and Plexamp?

I wish the interface was a little better though.

i've been running musicolet for quite a while now on my phones. i've been pretty happy with it's interface, and capabilities--it's one of the very few apps that can randomize entire storage area's of music to a playlist, and makes organization easy for storage sorting. it also reads far more file types than many other apps, and also pulls the appropriate file name info--which i generally update, but it's scattered across every music database format type-- many other music players will read a few database types, but never all of them.

though lately, it's been struggling and either skipping parts of songs, or getting stuck in random loops of 3-5 tracks.

but i generally only use 'randomize all' for the entire storage area, and i've been leap-frogging music from device to device for the past 20 years. and many of those devices had unflattering failures before the music was removed from them. so while this is the first time i'm running such a large amount of music, i'm unsure of if it's a musicolet problem with the amount of files, or a file integrity issue. my suspicion is that it's a poor file integrity issue.
