What's this the 2025 ratings? Ford, Honda, & Jeep both scored higher than the 4G Tacoma which has only been out for two model years with very limited production in early 24. Like I was saying the other day it only takes a few minor complaints to lose those reliability ratings. I think Ford and Toyota are close when it comes to sales numbers for 2025, yeah take it with a grain of salt and it is CR afterall. There are plenty of satisfied 4G owners right here on TW. Maybe once more SR Xtra cabs go on the road those ratings will change.

I have more faith in CR when rating washing machines rather than vehicles.

    Infotainment system complaints

GM's midsize gets the worst predictive reliability rating, that orange they have looks sharp but I'd predict they would fair the worse in those ratings.

Hey look I own the most reliable midsize truck, but I agree Consumer Reports is absolute garbage. Just paid advertising by the manufacturer, whoever pays the most is most reliable. I do wonder if this was flipped and Toyota was the most reliable what people would be saying? "Oh yes, Consumer Reports #1! I always go to them first for nonbiased reporting."

CR seems to give equal weight to the guy who makes an unscheduled visit to his dealership to sync his iPhone as the guy who needs a new motor, so maybe we collectively need to re-think what “reliability” means. As a point of reference, Toyota built its reputation of reliability 40 years ago mostly just by never leaving you stranded far away from a pay phone.

All you need to know about CR today is that they declared total war on Gen3 (which did have early issues), and now recommend you go buy a used one over anything else. Needless to say, my money still sits on Toyota.

No, and it's not even close.

ford is selling 5,600 units per month in 2025. Toyota moves 21,900.

Covered ad nauseaum in other threads.

I see at least 15 to 20 4G Tacos for every new-style ranger on the road.

I've read where the numbers were close and see more 4G Tacomas than 6G Rangers, probably notice more Rangers than I did before still see more Tacomas.

Go back and re-read these threads (in which you've posted).

Why does this ground need to get covered over and over and over and over and over again? I get that there is this ultra-strong urge to troll, but this is published data.
Toyota is selling a fcuk ton of Tacomas.

I didn't say Toyota sold less midsize trucks than Ford. I read where some one said the sales numbers were close. Global sales might be equal Ranger to Tacoma I haven't seen Ranger numbers. I check the Tacoma sales mothly.

    Jeep=reliability/quality, does not compute.

That is why CR is such a joke.

Hell, I'd put my 10 year old Taco up against a new Jeep pick up and bet 10K the Taco would win every time for reliability.

I looked at them, I was not impressed with the quality.

How well the infotainment system works and how many boxes they can check on the features list has way more weight to reviewers and "reliability score" than the things that should matter like how long it will last on average without a major breakdown and every auto manufacturer including Toyota has gone with this mentality because that's what sells vehicles nowadays.

I know Toyota on average uses higher quality parts than many others but another thing I think that kept their reliability up was they didn't start putting all the bells and whistles on everything until way late in the game, they made things functional not fancy.

Now it seems it's a race to keep up with government regs, keep profit margins as high as possible, and check off all of the feature boxes instead of a race of who can build the best quality product.

Well dammit, now I have to get a Hyundai Santa Cruz. If only they would bring the Subaru Baja or Brat back so I could have a nice pick-up.

How else are we going to see the pop-up ads next to the 1.5 paragraph "article"?

Toyota would want to get the highest ratings for checking those boxes to help keep those margins high that's why Toyota sells vehicles.
