I found myself at the local Toyota dealer today & thought I'd look at the new tacos while I was there. I got to talking to one of the sales guys & told him what I wanted. He kinda got a discouraged look on his face when I told him I wanted a 6' bed and access cab. He said they had over 50 new Tacos on the lot, but not a single AC. A few 6' beds, but all 4-door. "Why would you want that?" he asked..."it doesn't even have rear seats". I went on to hell him I'd ripped out my rear seats and put a carpeted plywood wall back there & love what Toyota did with that area in the new AC.

Parts guy told me they only order them for fleets. When I mentioned ordering one, I kinda got a uhhhhhh sort of response from him and the sales guy that went no further. So either they don't want to mess with it - or I can't get it?

What's up with that? Anybody able to score one?

Get the 4-door with the six foot bed. Goose Gear makes a slick rear seat delete kit. Is the extra 13" of length a deal breaker?

Did you check inventory on toyota.com? I'll probably be buying a SR5 2wd access cab 6' bed in the next year or so and the last time I checked inventory there were 24 exact matches within 250 miles of me.

Your local dealer is always going to want to sell you something on his lot.

The dealer doesn't order them. They get an allocation for whatever Toyota sends them. Sometimes they can make changes depending on the build stage, but it's extremely rare.

Access cabs can be found. Prerunners, SR, ect. The doors no longer open like the older years though.

Not yet. Wanted to put my hands one one. Good idea though - might be able to find something that way!

Yes he does. I've driven my '03 in the snow in RWD and it doesn't go far.

Sounds like they have plenty of trucks to trade with another dealer?

I think I seen someone on TW with a 4x4 xtra cab, so they’re out there

Zoiks! Yeah, that's probably about what mine would look like if I moved everything off the wall. I think I would actually have to bump it to get it to just barely fit.

Our dealership lists three. I have seen one of them sitting out front.

Hatch Toyota in Show Low, AZ.

This the front. I have a built in stop so I know exactly how far to pull in. There's actually enough room in the front to walk through and there's a bump out on the side so the door can open all the way. Should be in a new house with more and bigger garage space before '27. Hopefully to coincide with a refreshed Tundra, which obviously wouldn't fit.

Indeed they do! Not sure why they'd install an illuminated front emblem for an extra $280 on a poverty spec truck, but maybe they'd take it off. They can keep that SR Upgrade package too

I'd have to order - I bet they do this a lot

How does it work with dealers? They ship to another dealer for a fee?

Dealers often trade cars. What’s not selling for them is wanted by someone else and vice versa.

They get a lot of customers from the "four corners " area.
