I don't feel confident enough to say exactly what will or won't work. Best bet is to use your VIN to look up the part number for the original tank and then cross-reference that with other years/models that used the same tank.

There might be other tanks outside of the cross-reference list that "could" work but anything in the list is (in theory) guaranteed to work.

@Speedytech7 You think the mechanical speedo on 95-97s gonna affect the trans compatibility here?

I think you just have to take the manual sender out of the busted trans and put it in the new one. I don't think anything actually changes mechanically

@Ozark_RegCab something to think about, you can buy a new fuel tank for less than $400.

You can also run the engine for a short period of time without a proper fuel tank (using starting fluid and/or a makeshift fuel tank), which means you can do all of the rest of the work and make sure the truck is in good shape before you worry about getting a new tank.

Might be a non-issue if the original trans is still good anyway. The bell housing is for sure wrecked but the trans behind it might be okay.

I told him I'd buy the transmission core off of him for $100 If he ends up changing the trans himself. He wants me to do it I'll take it as partial payment. I was going to slam it back together with an r155 bellhousing for @2RZNoShi1 pickup

Yea assuming the trans itself is still good (seemed to shift fine without the clutch in) you could have either the old one or the new one sans bell housing, either way.

I remember the clutch just being all limp dick down by the floor. Is that normal with a cracked bell housing, or did I maybe bust the clutch fork too?

It's pretty unlikely the fork broke, it uses the trans and engine connection for leverage though so you'd just make the crack bigger stepping on it

Yea I found this one with my VIN. It’d be nice to get a new o ring too just for the hell of it

Holy crap, it’s literally insane how worthless these things are. You almost have to pay someone to take them.

Hm, there actually is a gas tank from a 99 2.7 extra cab in Rathdrum.

Bro, I know how to fix this mistake: demolition derby. No way the value of that fun won’t be worth the money you spent!

I’m confused cause Ourisman has the same part no. for 2.4, 2.7, and 3.4 Tacomas from 95-01, so I don’t think that’s right.. it also doesn’t distinguish between extra and single cab. @6P4 do you know if the part number for your single cab is different than 77001-04020? That’s the one that came up when I entered my VIN. Thanks.

A buddy of mine (who sold me his Tundra) has discovered that life with four Birfields can be a hella lot of fun.

toyodiy.com shows 77001-04010 for my truck.

It also shows that 04020 is only used in extra cabs https://www.toyodiy.com/parts/xref?s=77001-04020&mU=on

Just got the TDAP, didn’t even feel anything. Hopefully I don’t faint on the drive back to Moscow.
