I'm looking for a recommendation for someone to install carpet in my 2014 double cab. I'm getting quoted over $4000 (and that isnt even the service center), obviously "go away" quotes.

I'm in Chatham County, but willing to travel.

Three years ago I would have done it myself, but my back isn't going to allow that anymore.

If I charged you $500 for replacing the carpet, I’d feel guilty for ripping you off.

You can have the interior removed in 30-45 minutes at most.

I have installed the optional vinyl flooring in 2 Tacomas and don’t miss having carpet.

You’d be surprised how clean you can get old carpet by removing it and power washing it.

My thoughts are that I am paying to save my back, I'm pretty sure removing the seats alone would end up with me getting another epidural and taking time off work. I'd gladly cough up $500 to install carpet, hell I'll bring some few pounds of bbq, and hand over cold beers as needed. Cheaper than taking a week off work to recover.

I wish i could see the vinyl in person. That sounds tempting, but I wonder how hot does it get?

If you drive to Austin, and provide the BBQ (from Franklin’s) and beverages, I’d install it for you.

I'm a purist, BBQ was oinking the week before. I have dabbled in the smoked beef arena. This one a beer steamed smoked brisket I did when my Texan boss came, just to show him not only can I out do Texas on BBQ, I can out do them on smoked beef as well. ;p

I can't drive that far these days, not until I find seats with a heated lumbar massager in them lol.

I found https://jleautoupholstery.com/, quoted me $800 for carpet and jute padding. Much better than all the other quotes I got, and im getting it done.

As some one who's currently about to undergo an epidural and has been looking at 3rd party seats (God damn wish I was rich); I gotta ask, what makes you think changing out the flooring will help with your back?

Ah no no no, i think SOMEONE ELSE changing my carpet, rather than ME changing it, will save my back lol. I know im going to be in bad shape if I replace it myself. I'm not replacing it to save my back.

    RE back

Assuming you have done the physical therapy song and dance? If one method doesnt work for you, dont give up. The McKenzie method messed me up so bad, and it is what everyone at the spine clinic was pushing on me. Quitting it and seeking out a PT that knew the McGill method was a game changer. 2 years ago I was randomly falling and ending up in the ER thinking my life was over, today like right now, full feeling, no pain. It comes and goes to some degree, but is only real bad is i do something i know is dumb (eg change the carpet myself).

I pull the carpet out of my double cab every couple of years to pressure wash it. It only takes about 20 minutes, basically just however long it takes to remove the seats and center console. If you’re paying someone to do it, I wouldn’t spend more than $100 on labor.

I wish I could do that, I physically cant do it without risking harm to my back.

I'm sorry to hear that, I have multiple bulging discs in my low back and back pain is no joke! If you were in my area I'd do it for you for free. Keep up the good fight, it'll get better!

I'm doing quite better now, actually was pain free today until about 5 minutes ago. I'm just not willing to risk aggravating it for changing out carpet.

Bad part isnt even the pain, it was the random falling. Scary sh%$, standing up then hitting the floor face.

edit* Recaro Ergomed WOW need to see if my youngest really wants to go to college or not lol

Have you seen any seats with better lumbar support? Heck maybe some with built in heated deep tissue massage lol. What seats are you looking at.

This week I am doing sound deadening on my truck so I will get to see how hard it is.
I’m by no means an expert and I don’t run a shop, just a DIYer.
I understand you have back issues. I am in southern Virginia so if you need someone to install the carpet for you I think I could find the time to drive down. I would be happy to help you out.

I appreciate the offer, but I've already paid him a deposit (to order the carpet), and I'm just going to have him do some more work as well.

I am interested in how it goes, so please let us know

Yeh. Seen LOTS of seats that are no doubt better.
The post certainly implied to me that carpeting could better help the back. Hence my question.
