I watched a box truck almost roll over today pulling onto the scale at the waste yard...he didn't understand how to pull on straight...I should check my dash cam. My friend was like "What would you have done if he rolled over? And I said "Laughed..."

 

Yeah the pictures never really do it justice, you guys had things pretty well dialed in by the time I got there. The extra anchor vehicle in a spot like that is a must. Those off camber situations are the worst pucker factor for good reason, gravity just sucks our heavy trucks downwards. Unfortunately seems like nevada landscape is very often devoid of good anchor points when they are needed. Glad it worked out how it did

My weekend wasn't as spicy at kairo and cartter's but according to the kids this is a new annual tradition for the last weekend in June.



First time driving the truck and trailer on his own...he can barely reach the pedals so I stuffed his pillow behind him.


Found a good spot and enjoyed the sunset while setting up.


Was a bit breezy early on but the wind let up a couple hours after sunset.

These toppled tufa are cool. I've driven by them tons of times but never stopped to check them out.

I want to add a fixed GMRS radio into my jeep and carry a couple handhelds as well. Learned yesterday with several vehicles spaced apart, being able to talk to each other would be helpful.

Anybody have any units they use/like?

Well my axle blew a couple weeks back. Since my truck is down I figured I could fix my cracked inner fenders and core support. Caging the cab and the engine. Tieing it all together front to back.

I'm also throwing some 40s on

If anybody wants any interior parts I'll sell them for very cheap.

 

They work well, and you can't beat the price. I'm not sure about the license requirements

 

Spend an entire saturday rolling around in the desert and fighting with prickly bushes. Zero problems.

Drive to a customer's facility with the window half way down this morning. Piece of something stuck in left eyeball.

 

This (unfortunately) reminds me of a few years back my buddy and I going out some distance on one of the road(s) you can eventually use to get to Lockwood. Anyway, being of sound mind I decided to take a random trail (issue 1) down with a hill on one side and ravine on the other (as you said, very Nevada). trying to avoid a rock and washout on the ravine side, the trail was narrow enough i started climb the hill (issue 2). A couple feet later, truck slides to to the ravine and at the point where the poo started to come out was standing almost on the inside of the door while the truck throws all the warnings telling me to shut off the engine (issue 3). I tell my buddy to slowly get out and stand on the running board and lean to the hill. I put it in reverse and let it get in gear and then slowly inch backwards. We both get back inside, i change pants, he gets out and spots and move a couple rocks from the hill side and then go home. Haven't gone there since.

 

Well that's terrifying

 

yeah, I told myself If we do anything I'd consider remotely close to that, I'll have a winch, all the running boards, gear, and a second vehicle because I got away with being stupid once and best not test my luck.
