    Replaced a Pioneer MVH-600BS double din with an Alpine ILX-W650 last night. Pioneer had a mini stereo input that the ASWC-1 plugged-in to, which allowed it to auto-program. Worked flawlessly. The new Alpine has three steering wheel control wires (key 1, key 2, and ground). I've wired them to ASWC-1 female mini stereo connector but the unit doesn't seem to want to program itself. I have to go into the settings and manually program, but after trying few settings they all get wiped out.

    Just wondering if anyone's had success with this unit yet. Should I ditch the ASWC-1 and just direct-wire it, maybe?

    Yeah, solved it just now. The ILX-W670 handles the programming and you don't need an ASWC-1 or newer AXSWC. You can just directly wire to the steering wheel control wires and program via the head unit. Way cleaner, easier, and cheaper in the end.

    I installed an ILX-W670 in my 2011 tundra this weekend but wasn’t sure where to connect the steering wheel control wires from the Alpine, so my steering wheel controls are not functioning. Is there a wiring diagrams? I read the instructions but couldn’t figure out the wiring

    Not sure about the Tundra, but there were two wires I needed to find in one of the factory harnesses behind the radio for the ILX-670 steering wheel controls. I'd already clipped and wired the right ones to an ASWC-1 a few years ago for a previous install (Pioneer unit) so they were easy for me to find and connect. Might be violet/white (SW1) and yellow/black (SW2) based on a quick google search, but I could be wrong.

    Once you find them, it's super easy to program the unit. The ASWC-1 and AXSWC both wouldn't program correctly. They'd let you program volume up and volume down, but after a couple more keys they would reset and delete everything you'd already programmed. Nice that Alpine built the functionality right into the new unit... really simplifies things behind the dash.

    Good luck.

    Having issue where Bluetooth, Steering wheel controls and some others are greyed out on my alpine w670 and I used the PAC Audio RP4.2-ty11. I was told by Crutchfield that I woundn't need to use the steering wheel ground. I was able to connect to Bluetooth through my iPhone settings but not the alpine. It's recognized but still weird. Happen to know why? All the cables are connected properly to the interface to the w670

    Could you update me and let me know if that works? If it does I'll be looking at doing that then. I need to remove the headunit anyways. Appreciate the reply

    I ended up calling Crutchfield and from what they said is that every time you turn on the vehicle for it to recognize the parking brake you will have to pretty much engage it (wait about 2 seconds) , disengage (wait about 2 seconds) and then engage the parking brake on last time and it should work. He said it's just a annoying Alpine thing

    I believe you can get a Bypass from Amazon or Ebay. I have a bypass for a Pioneer unit that I'm replacing, but I'm not sure if it's compatible.

    Yea it looks like I'll be doing that. I think there's one for alpine but it was for the crux interface so not sure if it'll work on the pac audio. I did the engage and disengage parking break method Crutchfield said to do but that didn't work. If you could update me on if that works for you could you let me know. Would appreciate that before I purchase it

    For that it'd have to be that they didn't connect the usb cable right. I had the JBL package headunit and I had two grey connectors. I think it was the lighter gray one that was used to the adapter Crutchfield sent and then the usb part will connect to the headunit usb slot on the top of it. They also should have an extension of it if needed. I don't have android but my CarPlay did work.

    Just saw a post that it could be that your phone doesn't have the necessary permissions to use android auto. Check your phone settings for that and see if that works for you

    @bryaninoo
    I connected to the parking brake and tried to program the Alpine for the steering controls several times. It didnt work. Called Crutchfield again, talked to someone else and apparently, it requires the ASWC to work. I'm now connecting my old aswc-1 from my old Pioneer. I didnt finish, but hope it works. Im also going to connect my old brake bypass.

    Installed the ASWC-1 and the bypass and tried to program the steering wheel controls. It didn't work so I called Crutchfield again and we worked on it for at least an hour. They now want me to update the firmware on the ASWC-1 since it's still not recognizing the Alpine. The instructions and link they gave me does not match the Axxess website. This is getting pretty frustrating. Did you guys figure it out?
