    Hello,

I have a 9” joying head unit in my 05 jbl Tacoma TRD off road. I have it for almost 5 months and it’s been great no issues. Recently, the usb port I have stopped working. It’s plugged into a cable that runs up to the unit and plugs into a usb dongle. I went and pulled the unit to investigate and the dongle started smoking when I unplugged the cable. I’m so lost for words and so scared for a fire to start. I don’t have anything plugged into the dongle anymore and everything else works fine. Am I at risk for a fire, what should I do? Already contacted joying just want a temporary solution or if anyone has advice. Thanks!

Edit: contacted joying and they were no help saying I needed to replace the circuit board when the unit works perfectly fine, as of right now I’m only worried about fire risk.

What do you mean dongle? The Joying unit should have USB ports built in - is there someone other device between the actual head unit and the USB header in the dashboard?

Yeah it has the built in ones, but there’s also a one ish inch cable with a usb port attached that is connected to the unit. The one in the picture is similar but instead the male end in the picture is wire into the unit.

I have been putting in the work, talking back and forth with them but the language barrier dosent allow them to fully understand the problem.

Yeah that's no good and not something I would attempt to fix by changing the cable plugged into it. Best of luck with Joying CS.

Yeah, luckily I just found out a buddy has an audio shop near me so hopefully we can do something about it.
