I see it often, too. It's either the connector is not snug anymore and all the vibrations cause it wiggle thus the current can only flow thru a small section of the terminal and builds up heat.

Or the clutch itself is wearing out and the magnets are working hard.

When those connectors go bad, I cut them off and just install female spade connectors and heat shrink them good so if the wires come off and don't arc.

That's what I told him I would do tomorrow, got some connectors at home. Thanks!

These are the terminals I use. They are crimp on connectors.

This pic just shows the wire side heat shrank. Once you heat both male and female sides and the middle, the connection is very weather resistant and difficult to pull apart.

    Check out this hot mess!

    Mating a JD 757 Z Track to a Predator 670.

JD doesn't use colors to keep the wires organized. They use small numbers to label the chassis side wiring. No joy!

Spent an hour wiring up a temporary wire harness to make both sides play nice.

JD schematic is useful, but I much prefer different colored wires like Kohler does.

Kirk said "I can top that, I'll use all blue wires":rofl::rofl:

I am impressed with the projects you take on, and make work :fistbump:
