    Aight I’ve had it.

I swapped the fan leads going into the MSD and the problem followed, which makes you think it’s a fan issue right? Well both fans spool up and sound the exact same when applied directly to 12v.

I also noticed a little bit of copper corrosion on the ground terminal, which I cleaned, but now I’m thinking I don’t have the right solution to this problem. I could use normal boring relays again, but I want them to look good, which isn’t how it did last time I used normal relays.

Any ideas here? I don’t think I’m going to pull either of the fans given that they both work fine.

Okay, so my solution to the AC problem is ordered. I had a PCB designed to the specs of my ac spoofer schematic, but the best part is, it’s an arduino shield, so it’ll just snap right onto the back of the arduino mega and will work! It has a couple screw terminals on top for 12v input to power the board, and the 3 waveform outputs.

Only thing is, I had to order 5 of them. So anyone need one? Hahahah

Just driving down the street at 55, is it loud inside with all that added tubing and steel panels?

Yes, but it’s not the steel and panels that does it. It’s the shocks. The big 3.0 bypasses click so loudly, and it gets transmitted through all the tube right above your head. It’s insanely loud. And that’s driving in a flat parking lot at 5mph. At speed over anything is even worse

Put some sweet Baja designs stickers on the switch pros. Now I need the @Baja Designs lights. I have about 10k worth of lights that need ordered, between the tundra, the raptor, and some laser goodies for the Tacoma.

Someone pls buy my set of 5 KMC’s. I’ll make you a sweetheart deal.

Quad lock phone mount for the taco. Have the same thing coming for the tundra and the raptor. I think I kinda wanna change out this lever style head for the mag style charging head, but I don’t know if my phone would stay attached to the mag head while going ham in the truck. So I got both just in case.

So let me preface this with:IMG_5824.jpg

115* outside. Get me out of here.

But I decided that work needed done and the taco needed fixed.

    IMG_5836.jpg IMG_5837.jpg

replaced the weather MSD solid state relay with good old fashioned IP65 rated fuses and relays. The wire spaghetti looks like garbage, but it works, and it’s reliable. So it stays.

    IMG_5839.jpg

tomorrow the new coolant reservoir goes in, and this thing will be fixed. Just waiting on that custom PCB to arrive so I have working AC again before I dare to daily this thing. My left arm is super tan compared to my right arm, from having the windows down. Wife started to make fun of me for it

In the spirit of IP65, the new ac controller got its own sealed box. Just waiting on the shield to get here for it. It just got finished in production in CHYYYNA today.

Scrubbed the crap out of the bed with some degreaser and got everything cleaned up from the loose trans cooler line fitting. Also got the new chase bays coolant reservoir mounted up on the cage. Hopefully it’ll help with bleeding the system out since it’s so much higher than both the rad and the engine.

Tested the new relays and all of the fans are turning on as commanded, so I guess I’ll drive this thing again and get more miles on it if the heat does break this week like it’s supposed to.

Took the truck out tonight and put about 150 miles on it. I changed the fan temps to turn fan 1 on at 185 and off at 180. Fan 2 on at 188 and off at 180, and they finally started to act correctly, and would cycle on and off as it warmed up and cooled down with driving and idling. But at highway speeds under load, 60+ mph, the coolant temp slowly starts to climb. Got up to 205 before I got tired and turned around to head home down the hill. Made it about 40 miles up the hill on the i17 from phoenix, at night, with 95* ambient. This doesn’t really matter because I’ll just trailer the truck up there, but it still irks me that it can’t do it and the temps not budge.

2 solutions come to mind, adding a third pusher style fan on the top side of the radiator, and adding a supplemental water pump in addition to the mechanical one on the motor.

@tacotunner06 what do your temps run at usually?

You don't have good air flow across the radiator while driving. That's the most logical reason. Some sort of ducting would help a lot.
