I’m about to purchase a new set of OEM drums. Do they come with any type of rust protection? Will they get rusty after a few washes? The ones I purchased from Napa did .

It's iron and will rust. you can treat the outsides before assembly but no guarantee how it will hold up. When I replaced mine I got powder coated drums and so far no rust, still silver.

My new OEM drums had a light coat of black paint but only on the exterior (below). I sprayed Rustoleum Rust Reformer on the new OEM drums and new OEM rotors after properly degreasing & masking them for much improved rust protection in our extremely wet off-road environment here in MS. Toyota Parts Deal had the best total price including shipping I could find when I bought mine. Braking is now extremely smooth just like when my '97 V6 Taco Xcab 4X4 was young.
