Has anybody done an aftermarket tune through the ECT button?

OEM tune normally then pushing the ECT button activates an aftermarket tune is that possible? Is that a thing?

There is only a single engine calibration in the ECU. There is no difference in output when using the ECT button vs. not using it. All the fueling, ignition, variable cam angles, etc. all remain the same regardless of whether the ECT button is pressed.

The differences are functionally just different throttle mapping and transmission shift points. There are some other slight changes, but as the end user, you're going to notice those two things.

ECT does more than just change the transmission RPM shift point. Try driving on a flat road at a relatively steady speed like 40mph then push the ECT on, hold your foot on the accelerator to maintain speed, you will notice the pedal go down slightly, your speed and RPMS will increase without any precibal lower gear change . Can anyone explain ?

    Sure you can argue "relative".
But what is, is. And isn't, isn't.

    1995 Lincoln Continental
    0-60 mph 7.7 - Quarter mile 15.9

2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Double Cab 4X4
    0-60 mph 7.7 - Quarter mile 16.0

The Tacoma has 24 years more "technology and performance".
But it's sitting in a time space with a big family car. And 24 years OLDER at that.

Again, the Tacoma is a truck.
    It's not fast or quick.

    It's just a truck.

The real argument here would be, What one do you think would last longer?
I'm going with the "Not quick and Fast" Tacoma.

I have posted what you describe but this way. Drive steady at about 40 MPH with ECT "ON" the holding steady turn off ECT and it feels like you just popped a parachute off the back of your truck.

I've always called the ECT feature the "poor man's tune" because that is what it is.

    Thank you.

The Toyota ECT button functions by a series of hydraulics that operate clutches and bands that are controlled by an electronic solenoid in the transmission. Together these elements provide greater control over vehicle speed and throttle position. Simply press the button to receive a boost of power and press the button a second time to cancel.

When and Where Should You Use the Toyota ECT PWR Button?
If you are looking for a “Turbo Button” like you see in the movies, the Toyota ECT PWR button is not what you are looking for. Performing more like the TOW/HAUL Mode of the 2016 Toyota Tundra, the ECT button will sharpen throttle response in short bursts. With that being said, many drivers still don’t know where and when to use the ECT PWR button.

The Toyota Tacoma ECT PWR button is best suited for when you are pulling a trailer and need a little extra punch. Additional driving situations that may call for you to use the ECT button include passing on the highway, merging onto the freeway or climbing a steep incline. Be aware that extensive use of the Toyota ECT button will have a negative impact on fuel-economy ratings.

Don't know how to explain this but I was driving in around 40 mph in D and pushed the pedal about 1/2 inch or more to feel the truck move then I did the same thing with the ECT on as soon as I put my foot on the pedal response was there no pushing .So to me is like a little turbo boost but nothing to brag about lol. But they is a definate response to the pedal on ECT

I primarily use ECT on winding, country backroads.

I actually cut a hole in the floorboard so I can push it out like a Flintstone brake job. Goes soooo much faster. In hindsight I suppose I could have shot a hole there. Damn I'm dumb!
