I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it man, having border patrol fly through there isn't the best. Last time I went there, I had to back up kinda far, and the dude was like right on my front bumper but appreciated that I moved for him. I know San Jacinto ridge truck trail doesn't have as many switchbacks, you should look up on YouTube "SoCal offroad trails to get some ideas. I would have joined this weekend if I knew you were going, and my windshield wasn't currently spiderwebbed from a huge crack. Luckily its getting fixed on Thursday.

IMG_4978.jpg A PSA for anyone considering those China UCAs, don’t do it.
I was installing the 2nd set ever last night and the ball joint snapped in half and I was using hand tools when it blew apart.
Luckily this happened during install rather than while driving. This can certainly cause a serious issue if not someone getting killed.

So spend a few more bucks and get something safer guys!!

It was more of an impromptu thing . Otherwise I'd have Posted something here. It definitely would have been more fun with people who knew where they were going I definitely want to go out with you and sage63 to the desert before I leave.

That explains your text message I was trying to decipher it. I've got the JBA ball joints on order, and I'll be gone all weekend, so I'll swap them out when I get back.

I'm probably going to swing by the auto hobby shop on base and take care of it. I got some other stuff to install too.

I did the math and swapping to that clip was 4 inches. Not 3 inches. I hate suspension math. I kinda like it though. But it's too rough. The wife would bitch the ENTIRE way back to Maine

Anyone have any experience welding in cab mount relocation brackets? I can provide beer and cash. I'm in 92120 not far from SDSU.

Does anyone have a transmission jack or something similar I can borrow or use in their driveway? I need to lift up my cap to swap my bed rails for new aluminum ones and replace the weatherstripping and I’ve convinced myself that’s the simplest method. I don’t have access to a crane like I did in NJ so now I have to do things the hard way.

Does anyone near/in San Diego have a "Black Tone 202" Gas lid with working hinge for a 2016 Tacoma with Access Cab w/6ft bed? I ordered one off EBAY and they sent me a "quicksand color" and they return policy will take forever.
I can trade or purchase. No luck at the junkyards.
That reminds me, Ill check in the Buy/Sell.

Anyone do any kayaking? I'm a beginner, most definitely a newb and looking for anyone that is okay with kayaking with a newb?

I don't have a kayak yet, but plan on getting one soon.

I was looking into a Jackson Zen 3? It is considered a very stable kayak from my research and honestly that is what I want. I would rather get new also and not a used one. Are the ones from Walmart "trash"? I was looking at those ones as well? But definitely new and something super easy for a beginner.

I only want to get as hard as level 3 max quite honestly, but that requires experience first.

Right now, I just want to learn and go enjoy some calmer rapids.

I would demo a lot of boats before buying, I'm not sure if there are any shops in your area that deal used. Going used is going to be your best bet in my opinion. I've been kayaking/rafting for close to 30 years so I'm basing this on my experience. Don't rush upping the level of paddling and stay in your comfort range. Invest in a good pfd/helmet/paddle. Get with an outfitter and take a lesson, it's worth the money and time. Make sure that you're comfortable being upside down because it's going to happen. The important thing is that you have to be absolutely comfortable in the boat, it HAS to fit you. Don't go by the hype on the mfg website, and I don't care what mfg, (Jackson, Pyranha, Liquid Logic, Dagger, etc.) they're looking to sell boats.

Happy 4th guys and gals! Hope everyone is having a great start to the weekend!

Ill be working most of it as usual, but that's more my fault as Im just a workoholic and I doubt that will change anytime soon, but at least I have a pool to jump in when I wanna cool off.

At least there is a nice breeze here so it could be worse, however the hotter times are not too far away, already dreading working on hot days where I have to weld while wearing all that gear, lol.

Dont blow your fingers off kids!! Remember, Safety 3RD!

Live in Santee now just east of San Diego.

Yeah, definitely not rushing rapids wise. I'm just saying that eventually I am not interested in going beyond level 3 rapids. For now, I just want to learn the basics. And with that said, I also understand about the pfd, paddles, helmet, etc.

I've been watching a lot of YT vids as well both Walmart brands and the more expensive ones as you have mentioned.

I will look into groups though as none of my close friends are into stuff like what I want to do.
