Gen 3 Tacoma Chevy 350 Swap

Oh to the OBD2 question. OEM engine harness is removed. There are no original working electronics accept for the interior amenities. I separated the power for ignition fuel and fans so I can run the truck with all power off to the truck and then I have a master switch to turn on the power to the truck itself. This can only be done in a non DEQ area. I will not live in a place that requires DEQ. Im sure I will be hated by all electric car owners.

I put a Sequoia booster and MC in my 2nd Gen TRD Sport. It made a HUGE difference in initial brake responsiveness. No modification needed, just some short custom brake lines and a longer plunger rod on the brake pedal.

I have no idea if that’s applicable or useful for you or a 3rd gen, but can point you toward more details if so

 

Point me at some more info on that and ill definitely look into it. I was also told to use a larger master cylinder made by chevy however I would like to research multiple options. I did get the breaks working pretty well though as I stated earlier they are still a little spongy. Ill take any info you got!

 

If you’re going to SAS it with a Dana 60 you absolutely want to upgrade the brakes.

It looks like the 07+Tundra/ 08+Sequoia brake booster will also fit 3rd Gen Tacoma TRD Sports. That’s the booster you want; it has a large dual diaphragm, which you need to push fluid through the larger port on a bigger master cylinder.

You will also need this extender (or one with the same dimensions) to extend the plunger rod on the booster that connects to your brake pedal: https://ebay.us/m/JK95Vi

I believe the port for a Tundra/Sequoia master cylinder is 24mm, which is a big step up from the (14mm?) Tacoma MC. You will need these brake line adapters to connect the Tundra MC to your existing hard lines. https://autobrakesolutions.com/prod...-line-kit-12mm?rq=yr_2016~mk_toyota~md_tacoma

And that’s it! That and some brake fluid is all you need to make the swap.

As an alternative to the Tundra/Sequoia master cylinder, you can buy an adapter to mount an even larger 1 ton GM master cylinder on the Tundra/Sequoia booster. (Maybe that’s the GM master cylinder you already have?) https://trailtoys.net/products/one-ton-master-cylinder-upgrade

I don’t know as much about that setup; I’m personally running a Sequoia MC because I’m IFS.

If you decide to buy a used booster from a salvage yard, buy from a yard where you can pick it up yourself. I ordered three different boosters by mail and they all arrived broken from shipping.
