I'll make it quick.... Truck went in for a re-alignment because after Peak Suspension lift was installed the first alignment wasn't done correctly and ruined the 2 new front tires in just a few thousand miles. (yes realignment was free and both tires are being replaced for free) During realignment dealership found grease leaking/slung out from one of the outer CV boots. The boot was damaged and pulled away from CV slightly letting grease sling. All grease on truck was clean and had no dirt in/on it so we easily surmised this had just happened.. the CV axle is probably ok.

Now --- dealership says gotta replace the whole axle (nobody does boots anymore supposedly).... a little research says BS.... Don't replace the axle --- get a high angle boot from somewhere and get that installed. New Axle could have the same exact problem weeks or months down the road since the truck has a 2.25 lift. Is my logic sound and do you have a recommended high angle boot of choice.

    Pic for attention only

The boot didn't get split from the lift, it got split during the lift installation

^yup. The boots typically split after driving for thousands of miles with boot fins touching/rubbing against each other. Wouldn't usually happen as quickly as you're describing.

IMO this is why I’m avoiding any collar lifts.

Biggest advantage the Prerunner or any RWD truck has no CV axles to damage. Of course if you want or need 4wd or a 4dr that won't work.
