So get rid if something that would be used several times a day, everyday because of a one in a million chance of an accident that may or may not result in a driver injury.

Or maybe it's just an excuse to cut costs and save a buck in the name of safety.

Our 2nd gen Sequoia has the driver grab handle, I used it every time I drive it.

For the OP...I am short, and my truck has no rails or steps. Didn't want to risk an experience with KTJo, so I spent $5.00 on a length of 1" webbing. That gets tied to the passenger side grab bar and is available to pull on when I get in to drive. It's my favorite cheap hack on this not-so-cheap truck.

I am way beyond people making fun or teasing me for it.

I tied it to the passenger grab bar and loop it across the console, where I can reach it to help me climb in. It sometimes hangs down onto the rare passenger's legs, but that is theirs to deal with!

    It's not pretty.

I pre-ordered the aftermarket panel years ago, but cancelled since they were having issues. Someone here mentioned this and I've been happy ever since.

    Never touched it after install.

It is super convenient to use it to get in and especially on rough off road trails to keep yourself from bouncing up and down in the seat (even with the seatbelt on).

    Mine is the ktjo.
