I'm still working on getting the site built. I do most of my business on eBay. User name reds_world or put Red Heeler Harnesses into the search bar. If you don't see what you are looking for please don't hesitate to ask

Just wondering if the part number for the ecu that you guys have problems with is 89661-04190? My truck is a 1996 2.7l 4x4 manual transmission and i have found several ecu but last 5 digits are different even if it’s the same truck

I'm having the same issues in my 97 2.4. Guess I need to just replace the ECU?

I know it's been a while but it took me this long to catch up to where you were back then.
Is your fix still holding? I have close to same two capacitors in need of replacing. One is 220mf x 10V and the other is 33mf X 35V.
Didn't know for sure if it replacing them would solve the issues or not. Looks like it did for you. Thanks for posting this.
I have one of the two, waiting on the other to get here tomorrow. Really hope this works!!!

Last update: Replaced just the 220mf x 10V capacitor because the others aren't here yet. Put the ECU back together and reinstall it in the truck. All of my OBDII readers started reading it right off the bat. Start the engine and it purrs like a kitten. Took a ride around the big block (~5 miles) and no more stalling. The '96 TACO is BACK!!!

Holy. Cow. I'm having the SAME exact symptoms and issues in my 1996. Just got it back from Toyota and have ordered an ECU on eBay that is advertised as refurbished guaranteed to work. Fingers crossed, thanks to you poor souls before me for helping lead me here.

You may want to look inside yours to see if you can spot the bad capacitors. I saved $749.85 by replacing my own capacitors. A Phillips head screw driver and a 10 mm socket is all it takes to get it out from behind the glove box.
