SONY XAV 4000 vs. 6000

    To the owners of the above, pros, cons, preferences of one over the other. Seems to be very little difference in functions. Looking to replace the unit in a 2019 SR5. Thanks in advance.

    they're largely the same unit.

    the 6000 add's an hdmi input, which isn't that big of a deal unless you're watching movies on it all the time.

    but a much bigger deal is that it uses a capacitive touch screen. the xav4000 uses a resistive touch screen.

    capacitive touch screens are like your phone screen. it uses a layer of coated glass to read your touch input. resistive touch means there's a floppy layer of semi-transparent plastic in front of the screen. it registers touch by that floppy layer touching the screen.

    my experience(8 years car computers with 3 different screens), absolutely pony up the $100 for a capacitive touch display over a resistive if given the option. last time i was in that position, i needed to pay $800...
