Any woodworkers?

I just picked up new planer blades from Ama zon for like $28 a set ... no way im paying $80 a set from Home Depot

 

I just rotate mine 90 degrees every so often.

 

That’s the brand I bought, no complaints

 

I've converted my jointer over to a Byrd shellix head and I'm about to do the same on my grizzly planer. Much quieter and easy to maintain and last far longer. I'll probably never need to change the inserts in my lifetime, lol. Pay the money and cry once.

 

Making a circle can’t be that hard, right?

Glued up the octagon this morning.


Made 3” x 3/4 slats while the glue was drying.

Made one pass with my circle cutting jig.



Cut the rest with the bandsaw, then moved over to the router table and my big compression flush trim bit.



I rounded off the edge with a trim router and 1/4” round over bit .

Slats are dry fit for now.

Thats a ton epoxy....

 

lol I said the same thing when I first saw that guy post that project on IG. That’s got to be 6-700 bucks worth of epoxy

My coffee table was about $600 in epoxy and it probably weights 200lbs

 

Was that the Dewalt 735 by chance? And if so have you had any issues with it since swapping over the cutter head?

 

I had a 735 and I ran Amana blades in it, they where better than the oem blades but still could be nicked. I sold the dewalt and purchased a 15" grizzly planer, night and day difference and much quieter.

I haven’t made a cutting board since pre covid. Maybe after I get through the next few projects on my list.
